2001 I was 24 years old, 50+ lbs. overweight, the mother of two small children. I had hiked off the first 20 pounds of post-partum weight in under a year, working part-time, at a YMCA, I was inspired by the other women, and moms, and the Wellness Staff there to begin using the cardio equipment, trying new group exercise classes, and experimenting with free weights. At first, it was for looks, but then a habit formed after two to three weeks of consistency, and the benefits of regular exercise started to become visible to me. I looked better, felt better, and over time, lost the excess body fat. I went on to build nearly 10 pounds of lean muscle; but my body became smaller! I familiarized myself with nearly every exercise possible and the alternatives for home, outdoors, and injury; and more than nineteen years later, with one or two hiatuses, I've kept off the majority of excess body fat, maintained my knowledge base, and have become comfortable, and secure within myself, my body, mind, and spirit; through my overall health and fitness aka personal Wellness.

Weight-lifting, strength-training, and indoor/outdoor cardio-respiratory exercise are another
reason; I enjoyed helping other people of all ages and walks of life learn to enjoy normal, daily,
movement that preserves and increases physical fitness, mental well-being, and a
reduces stress. To gear exercise toward functional movement and to use it as a tool to
improve their quality of life. This keeps me motivated.
