Got started after seeing a bodybuilding show out in Utah with my Dad. I said " I wanna do that! I wanna be like that!" He said I was crazy...after several years and many obstacles conquered...my journey has begun and will continue hoepfully into my 60's!
Why I Love It:
I love the way it makes me feel, I love how my body is changing and how I am feeling about myself. My self esteem is going up and I love the challenge that it presents me every day. What's not to love?
The increase in energy, the way my clothes fit, the feeling of going up in weights or reps..
How I Stay Motivated:
There is a place where I began. When I realized that I was not in a body I was proud of and decided to make a change. My motivation is a picture of where I started from and a picture of where I want to be. I think of how blessed I am that I am able to get to the gym and I keep in my mind that someone out there wants it just as badly as I do. What am I going to do TODAY that either they won't do or what will I do today differently than they do. Keeping in touch with a great trainer is also a fantastic way to stay motivated.

Boy if the facial expressin doesn't say it all on this one. This is my before pic. The day I decided I am making a change!I felt horrible and even cried after I saw this picture for the first time.
I will add lean muscle to this tiny frame of mine while keeping the BF low and get that Pro Card!
Goal (Long):
For years I have wanted to be up there on that stage in a bodybuilding competition. Life brought many challenges along the way and my big dream kept getting pushed aside. When I hit 34 years old I actually wondered if I was too old, I have three kids...does that matter? So, finally I decided to get up there on the stage! I didn't have much muscle on me and way too much body fat. After a year of dieting and training, I did well in my first year with Figure shows and may do more in the future, but my DREAM is doing Bodybuilding! This year I started doing Natural Bodybuilding competitions and as I thought I would, I LOVE BODYBUILDING, so I believe this is where I will stay! My goal in detail at this point is to continue to add lean muscle mass and compete in 2009 for my Pro card!
What an awesome story! I don't know who wouldn't find Ed's story inspirational...just look at him and what a positive attitude! Sir, if I saw you in the shopping store, I, too, would stop to shake your hand. No one knows the hard work and dedication it takes to get into great shape unless they have walked that journey. I am a mother of 3 and even at age 38 I hear others my age with their excuses why they are over weight and have health issues. Ed, I hope when they see what you have done!
You looked amazing!! It was so nice to meet you at the OCB! Keep up the hard work! Any Spring comps picked out. My next is April 10th. Can't wait to start cutting:) wierd I know:)
Yes we do, it is August 7th 2010. Also some great news, the new pro winners at our will receive there entry and air fare paid to compete in Kansas City in Sept!! We look forward to seeing you next year!! Please let everyone know www.unitedfitness.org

I just stopped by to wish you nothing but success as you work towards your fitness goal. Too many people think it can’t be done and so they don't even try but you have proven that with hard work and dedication it can be done. Keep up the great work. I look forward to watching your continuing progress and wish you all the best. You are a great example to so many others.
