I wanted to get stronger and more athletic so I could be good at anything I wanted to do. I started with bodyweight exercises, hundreds of push-ups and sit-ups. When I got access to weights I really got into lifting and have been doing it ever since. I still do bodyweight workouts and benefit alot from them
Why I Love It:
It's something my wife and I can do together. I am never done improving myself both physically and mentally. There is always something else to learn and some way to improve my body. I like the saying "Luck is when preparation meets opportunity", I want to be prepared for any opportunity.
How I Stay Motivated:
I keep a record of every workout. I look at the weight I lifted last time and try to increase it every week. Seeing my progress is a great motivator and comparing myself to other guys on this sight.
BB Accomplishments:
125 pound dips five times
6 pull ups with 60 pounds on a dip belt
Forum Signature:
goal: 300 lb bench, 380 lb deadlift

I've started doing Crossfit workouts and they are great and punishing. If you haven't heard of crossfit yet you should check out the website crossfit.com. It's a great concept, short, high intensity workouts that bring you to your knees, give you a great pump and totaly challenge you. ...
Hmmmmm....I think I'll hit chest once a week first, testing out this "going heavier" method and see how it feels. I'm in that stage of really trying to get to know my body since everyone is different.
After a couple of weeks, I'll transition into 2 days a week. Thanks for the advice. I'll keep you posted. I document everything I do on my page for comments/critiques. I WILL accomplish all my goals. Period.
I actually did a quick bulk for 4 weeks and I was able to throw pretty good weight in my opinion. I was doing 8 reps on flat DB presses with 90lb DB's. Then it would drop down to about 5 reps after 3rd set.
My chest has grown.....but it grew from nothing to a little lol. I'm planning on working my chest only once a week but really hard...I planned chest right after a rest day and on friday when nobody is in the gym. Do you think I should hit twice?
Ya I've always focused on form....now just focusing on form to isolate specific muscle groups now. Before, I did want to build my delts a lot so I didn't mind have the delts be a strong secondary muscle during chest exercises.
I'll do as you suggested and go in between what I was thinking about and what you do.....a litter lighter weight than you suggested, lower reps but more sets. I don't have a spotter to handle my weight so gotta do it that way.
Man, that's kinda exactly opposite of what I was planning to do. I started 3 days ago and what I did was lower my weight (was going pretty heavy on DB flat and incline) and started doing very controlled, slow reps.....and also changed my form a little bit by turning my elbows in to take away from the front delt helping too much. Also focusing on keeping tension on the chest the entire set. What do you think?
Thanks for the compliments bro! And yes, I've been MURDERING my workouts. Had a few guys tell me and my buddy we were crazy haha Looked like somebody dropped a bottle of water around us there was so much sweat!
I just restructured my entire workout split....giving chest it's own day since I need to focus on it. Always did Chest/Tri. Any specific tips that has helped you get that fullness in the pecs?
