I played football and ran track through College - this was a great experience, but left me with a dead talus bone in my left leg. I stopped working out through law school and on February 8, 2008 had an ankle surgery to drill out my dead talus bone and replace it with a cadaver implant. I started working out again after a 3 year hiatus on December 1, 2008. My goal is just to get back in shape.
Why I Love It:
It is a great release from a hard day's work and I just feel so much better after a good hard workout. Also, I feel better when I look better.
How I Stay Motivated:
I look at a picture of myself from three years ago and compare it to myself today. Furthermore, I look at my wife and know that I owe it to her, because she stuck with me during the bad times and now I can repay her by looking my best.
I had ankle surgery on February 8, 2008. I was not able to work out like I once was able to due to that. I am now starting to heal up and want to push myself to achieve a long, healthy life.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 40 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
15%

What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Prior to that age it would be good to do self-body workouts. After age 14, if you've been active, lifting weights is a good way to push yourself to that extra bit.

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Be patient! It won't come over night, you won't be able to walk into the gym and bench 400 lbs the first time - look to the big guys for motivation, not with envy.
Description: Hang clean with 225 lbs, using no lifting straps and no shoes. This lift is performed 2 months after my last ankle surgery - I still have limited flexibility in my left ankle.

I have been going strong and on a steady routine now for nearly a year. The new job has really helped me get into a routine that I enjoy and can stick to. However, it is just that - a routine, or rather more like a rutt. I feel that the pre-workout supplements that I have been taking,...
