When I Started:
Jan, 2006
How I Started:
became interested in fitness in High school where I was on the swim team, I swam 3 years and was in what I considered top physical shape. I was around 5% body fat and 150 lbs @ 5'8". I joined the Marine corps and entered boot camp 1 month after graduating from high school. Boot camp really put some muscle on my bones, I left boot camp at 162 lbs and ripped, even more so than after years of swimming. My PFT was 20 dead hang pull-ups, 110 sit-ups, and a 19 minute 3 mile run. I kept that up for the first 2 years I was in the USMC. Then I injured my knee had some surgery and it's never been the same. Needless to say I gained a bunch of weight and didn't really have any motivation to get it off. Let's fast forward to present day cause I'm sure most of you fell asleep back there. January 2, 2006 at 210 lbs,5'8", and I would say at least 25% body fat I started the Body For Life program, I had done this program in the past with some sucess and knew that it worked for me. Now I've been reading here and I know a lot of people here do not like the BFL program but honestly without I would not have even started working out. I half assed the program didn't do hardly any of hte workouts but ate pretty clean and lost about 17 lbs of fat. Now I started my offical BFL challenge on March 26 at 195 lbs and around 20% body fat, I have 5 weeks left and I'm down to 185 lbs but my body fat is not really dropping which kinda irks me. I was trying to track my calories but being married with 4 kids and working full time it was hard to find time. My goals include finishing this 12 weeks, getting down to 10% body fat and losing 25 lbs of fat. I thought this was acheivable but like I said my body fat is just stagnent even with my weight loss. I'm still happy with my progress though after reading articles here, I have had some good muscular gains in my arms, back, shoulders, and legs. ________________________________________ On to the new, as you can see I did pretty good back about a year ago, then I fell off the wagon hard! I want to drop off 15 lbs of body fat and stay around 200 lbs.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel good, and look good. I hate being fat, tired, and lazy.
How I Stay Motivated:
Family, Friends, web sites like this, T-Nation.com, and fitness magazines like REPS!
BB Accomplishments:
None.....I did finish two Body For Life challenges back in 2006, that was a major accomplishment for me.

Transform My Body
Goal (Overall):
Lose 25 lbs Cut my body fat below 20% Feel better
Goal (Long):
I want to lose the weight because heart problems are on both sides of my family and I carry alot of mid section weight. Which with all the latest research has proven to be a leading factor in heart attacks. I want to be able to take care of my family, play with my kids for more than 15 minutes without being tired. I also enjoy mountain bike racing and at my current weight and condition it's not as much fun as it was. I want to be competitive and actually finish in the top 10 of my class.

I want to LOSE 25 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
12%

Damn, seems like I'm always blogging about getting fat again.  Well I did, I got injured, didn't/couldn't work out, so I quit eating healthy and started feeding my depression.  Not a smart thing, now I'm back up to 220lbs, of disgusting fat.  It's so bad this time I can't stand to  look in...

Workout Program:
I am currently doing a Total Body Training program 3 days a weeks. All the major lifts, deads, squats, bench. I also mountain bike 1-2 days a week for 1.5 hours. I am also going to add some cardio to my program for the other days during the week.

For the most part - when I'm in town. A lot of vacation lately. I only try for w/o's 2x a day during M-F. I only did 25min this morning but better than nothing. I'm really glad I added the extra cardio w/o's. I think they are helping.

To answer your question on my blog. Yes, I'm doing cardio in the morning and lifting at night. Initially, it was a difficult schedule to adjust to but it's working great for me.

It was taking the Body for Life Challenge that got me started and I have no intentions of quitting now. Push yourself a bit harder than you may be comfortable with and you will be amazed at the changes and the speed at which they occur. I wish you much success.
