When I Started:
Feb, 2007
How I Started:
I was at the doctor's office with my wife who was in her last trimester with our youngest when the doc. asked me if I want to be around for the baby's high school graduation. After I shot him a strange look and said, "Of course!", he proceeded to tell me what I needed to do. My family has a history of heart attacks and strokes, not to mention diabetes and I was way overweight. The doc didn't tell me anything that I hadn't heard before, it just hit me a certain way that made me want to do something about it. After about 8 months of not knowing what I was doing, I got myself a personal trainer. Now that I travel all over the world for my company, I have to rely on what I learned from my trainer and watch everything that I eat and drink - not so easy.
Why I Love It:
I love to see the results. The plateaus piss me off.
How I Stay Motivated:
I have a personal goal and target date. Where others may have a weight goal, I have a body fat goal. I want to get down into the single digits.
BB Accomplishments:
I have gone from 26.5% body fat to just about 15.5%. That means that I have gone from size 46 pants down to 38's and have lost 45 lbs.
Mike, stay off the scales. Weight is relative. Far as your gut goes, yes it will be the last thing you will lose. Very few guys are bless with magazine cover abs. I have to be about 5% BF to have a six pack. I'm never at 5% or lower until I'm close to show time. Keep training hard and eating clean and enough food. ed aka Old Supe
