I've dabbled with exercise and weight lifting since I was in my 20s. I began to think about the iron a couple of years ago, after looking around online, seeing the fabulous women, and running across some very helpful websites.
Why I Love It:
It's like a dare. Can I do it? Yes I can! Not to mention I love the way my body feels for the next couple of days afer a good lift. A little sore, a little pumped, a little sexy. Makes me very aware of my body and what a wonderful machine it is.
How I Stay Motivated:
It's not always easy. And damn, looking at that fat photo I put up will keep me honest. Yeesh.
BB Accomplishments:
Not dropping the damn things on my feet. Yet.

If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive.

I want it all--who doesn't?
I've always struggled with my weight, to the point of getting an eating disorder. An eating disorder is, I believe, like alcoholism--it never leaves. One is only more or less in control of it at a given time.
My lowest weight in my adult life was 127 pounds, when I was 19. I managed to keep myself at roughly 130 until I was pregnant with my first child. (Yes, that old story.) I gained 50 pounds with that pregnancy, and managed to get down to 148 pounds. Then I became pregnant with child 2 and gained 40 pounds. The weight came off much more easily with Baby 2, and I was down to 148 within 2 years.
But is that all there is? Hell no! I know I'm capable of more. I know a lot of you don't know what the Society for Creative Anachronism is, but it's an organization that basically recreates the MIddle Ages. I put on armor and fight. My strength and endurance, shall we say, could use some boosting.
I want to make the folks who train me proud of me.
I'd like to drop down to below 140--below 130, if I can.
I'd like to have a body fat of below 20%.
I want to be able to see those abs I've been working on!
I want to be that 40 year old who turns heads. Vanity? Sure. My present to the girl I was in high school who thought she was undeserving of love.
Well, I guess one of the positive spins I can put on this is that there is only room for improvement in 2010. Since I had my root canal at the first of December, I pretty much haven't been to the gym. And then with the 4 year old's illness and my illness, and then Christmas--one thing...
Now is the time to decide to do exactly what you want to do, overcome all difficulties and not be deterred. Some people use “difficulties” as a convenient excuse. Other people overcome them to go on to achieve their greatest accomplishments in life.
I look forward to watching your greatest accomplishments.
Remember: “Nothing happens until you make it happen.”
I just stopped by to wish you nothing but success as you work towards your fitness goal. Find a good exercise routine as well as a nutrition program that works for you and you will be amazed at what will happen. I look forward to watching your continuing progress. Stay strong, focused and determined.
Reversw curls(Builds biceps AND wrist strength), get a sledghammer and cut it down to regular hammer length and hit an old stump or something for 2 sets of 1 minute each arm. Thaty should help with throwing snap shots.
