I've played a variety of sports, including intramurals in college. As an adult I continue to play basketball. About 7 years ago I trained for my first marathon, but an ankle sprain kept me off track. I have completed 2 marathons, and am preparing for my third May of 2009. Unfortunately, I'd rather play basketball than run, and it can be difficult to be motivated for early A.M. runs in VT.
Why I Love It:
It's a struggle against inertia. When I get in a groove, I enjoy the challenge and my mind travels amazing journeys.
How I Stay Motivated:
Progress is made one step at a time
BB Accomplishments:

I will be using the training plan for the marathon from "Brain Train for Runners" by Matt Fitzgerald. The book uses a different focus each week to improve ones running form. It subscribes that the brain and a positive attitude are critical for success. In addition I hope renew my dedication to training my core.
She has an amazing attitude, enjoys life, and competes hard. She's competed in triathlons, running races, and bicycle races, and always has a smile. She even works out with a college soccer team, as well as finding time to coach basketball, and work 12 hour shifts. She can do it all, that's why I find her inspirational.
My training this month has been spotty. I’ve run anywheres from once to 5 times in a week. My knees still have troubles with running on back to back days. I’ve lowered my trained pace to ~11 minute miles, but that’s still more than 2 minutes per mile than when I’m in shape. I’ve gotten...

Hiiii! Hope your holidays have been going great! Have a wonderful new year! I will try and set some good goals as long as the doc gives me the green light! Until then, my only goal is to never give up!:) Hope you are setting some great ones yourself!
Congratulations! I signed up last Thursday night, less than 24 hours before registration closed. I knew the race was filling up much faster than last year but at the time didn't realize just how close I was to missing out. See you there!
Sorry to hear about the lack of direction. From experience I've come to think the key is to focus on what you like best and subordinate everything else to that. For me it's running, and I find I can keep up my diet -- a huge challenge because I like to eat-- more effectively when it's to make me a better runner rather than just to give me more visible abs, something I just don't care about enough. Good luck getting your mojo back!

Hi Michael - I'm not going to be participating in bodyspace.com anymore (as a matter of fact, I really haven't been around for quite a while). I actually just wanted to thankyou personally for being one fantastic support and friend during the time that I was an active member - especially when I was off sick. You were a constant support. Thankyou Michael and I wish you all the best with your own goals.
Gosh I hope things are better for you now!!! just remember you doggie .. as silly as that might sound is there for you - meaning silly to others - .. have comfort knowing you are loved .. and have friends that care... smiles debbie :)
