I've played a variety of sports, including intramurals in college. As an adult I continue to play basketball. About 7 years ago I trained for my first marathon, but an ankle sprain kept me off track. I have completed 2 marathons, and am preparing for my third May of 2009. Unfortunately, I'd rather play basketball than run, and it can be difficult to be motivated for early A.M. runs in VT.
Why I Love It:
It's a struggle against inertia. When I get in a groove, I enjoy the challenge and my mind travels amazing journeys.

Keep my attitude positive, enjoy my journey, build successful habits for the rest of my life.

I will be using the training plan for the marathon from "Brain Train for Runners" by Matt Fitzgerald. The book uses a different focus each week to improve ones running form. It subscribes that the brain and a positive attitude are critical for success. In addition I hope renew my dedication to training my core.
Like most years I ran in the Clarence DeMar road race in South Hero, VT. Most years there had been an option to run either 10K or 5K, and I always ran the 10K, but these past 2 years there has only been a 5K option. Today we had ideal weather for a race, it was overcast and calm, 65F, 18C. ...

I'm doing ok. I've hard a hard time staying motivated since my marathon at the end of May. My right knee isn't 100%, but I'm still enjoying myself, mostly cycling and playing basketball.
