I've always been lifting weights you might say, but never started taking it seriously until I got into this circus business. I might say I'm a body builder thanks to Cirque du Soleil, Goth music, and Louis Dorman. Goth music inadvertently got me into fire dancing, Cirque du Soleil became one of my lifetime goals; this dream was given a bit of reality after I read Louis Dorman's inspiring transformation story.
Why I Love It:
It keeps me living clean and living productively. Before I started lifting seriously I wasted many of my days and nights manufacturing or enduring hangovers. Bodybuilding influences all aspects of my life, encouraging me to take music, fire dancing, writing, work, school, realtionships, etc. seriously and intensely.
How I Stay Motivated:
I watch a circus video, or I watch a performance of my own where I feel there had been a need for improvement. Somehow my own shortcomings keep me motivated as much as my accomplishments or goals; I'm a stubborn and persistent bloke and I will not give up until I've mastered something, but even then I'd not likely set a thing aside.
Also, I listen to Charon...a lot...so much so that my girlfriend is jealous of how I feel about JP and his band.
BB Accomplishments:
LOL.
I've not competed as a bodybuilder, but I'd say in terms of my own goals that are influenced by this lifestyle, I was "captain" of my school fire-knife troupe and the Lewis and Clark College Vaudevillians.
I might like to get into a bodybuilding contest some time in my life, but it's not a professional aspiration of mine.
I'm at 12% body fat and want to reduce it to under 10% in three months without losing lean muscle.
Goal (Long):
Fitness is and always will be a lifelong struggle/journey/etc. The industry I want to excell in requires physical aesthetic as well as artistic prowess. I'm burning the candle at both ends, striving for a good physique while pushing for a career in the two industries that I'm passionately enamored with: music and the circus (fire dancing).
Do you tell your friends and/or family about your fitness goals?
Yes
Why or why not?
I have some friends that are into fitness also. We all grew up together, but are all over the country now and each have different reasons for getting into fitness. We sometimes set goals that we'll all reach before the next time we see each other.
My parents are also big into fitness (my mom is a marathoner and my dad is a yoga instructor) so we help to motivate each other.I have some friends that are into fitness also. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Bodybuilding is most interesting when you're not working out just for the sake of bodybuilding but when you have a bigger picture, something greater that you're striving for overall. Bodybuilding helps to keep you focused, organized, and positive and the best motivation to get into the gym is how it will affect your life on a larger scale than just your biceps. What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?
I'm not big into measuring myself against celebrities. My goal is to be fit and feel good about myself. Bodybuilding is about taking care of your body and not chasing after someone else's.
I decided to go vegetarian and I'm pushing toward all out vegan. Generally my diet has consisted of cereal, fruit, nuts, veggies, etc. anyway and the only time I really bother eating meat is when I go out to eat; so the switch to vegetarianism has been relatively easy. Veganism is a bit...
Hi I'm running a new local amateur bodybuilding competition and was wondering if you or anyone you know might be interested. Heres a link to the contest's poster.
