As a lifelong athlete, fitness has been a fundamental element in my life. I grew up playing basketball, field hockey, and lacrosse all the way through college. While I was in college I started paying more close attention to what I ate and truly understanding what proper nutrition was all about as a result of my mother becoming deathly ill. Her illness was due to a lack of proper nutrition and caused her to develop a severe infection covering her entire large and small intestines. We’ve since overcome and she is fully recovered but it was this experience that changed my life for the better. In efforts to improve her health and help her create a healthier lifestyle, I started doing extensive research and began eating healthier with her. Once I realized what positive gains I was making in my athletic performance from eating even healthier, I became fully immersed in overall fitness and well-being.
Why I Love It:
I love working out because the benefits that yield from it aren't just on the outside but internal as well. It's a lifestyle too few choose to live.
How I Stay Motivated:
Competition because it brings out my weaknesses and I constantly strive to be the best I can! I also have my wonderful man to thank for pushing me on days I most need it. Without his dedication to me, I wouldn't be where I am. The men and women here on bb.com are also extremely motivating!
BB Accomplishments:
I competed in my first Figure Comp summer of 06' and won 1st place! Competed in my first Fitness Model contest in 08' and won 1st place! Fitness modeling for several personal training company websites. Competed in my first NPC contest in 08' and won 1st place, qualified for Nationals!

This was high school prom. I was always an athlete so I was running 4+ miles daily but never took weight lifting seriously. I use this picture to mark my starting point.
During college my new found love for overall fitness led me to Gold's Gym, where I worked for the remaining of my college years. It was at Gold’s where I found the love for, determination, and desire for competing. Working for such a well known gym gave me the opportunity to meet the best of the best within the fitness industry. It was during this time that I knew I had found my niche in this world! Shortly after, I became a personal trainer and hired one for myself in efforts to prepare for my first fitness contest the summer of 2006. I came in 1st place, a definite highlight, but only a taste of what I was capable of. Competing led to modeling for me and both are something that I’ve enjoyed doing for 3 years now. I joined bb.com in hopes of networking with other determined and like minded men and women in efforts to learn more and further develop my knowledge and love for fitness. Fitness started from within for me and has since become my lifestyle. I look forward to continuing my education within the fitness community, meeting more amazing athletes and I look forward to making lifelong friendships along the way! Competition is my biggest motivating factor because it pushes me to be the best I can. I have big dreams and all I feel are attainable. By 09' I want my Pro card and in 2010 I want to compete in the Olympia (told you I have big dreams).
I find this lady extremely inspirational because she has proven that you only get younger with age - a true testament of dedication, committment, and glory.
Ava is an inspiration to many women for obvious reasons. I admire her dedication to not only her past competitions, but her fans, clients, and modeling too. She's one my fitness role models and after meeting her I could see that the smile in pictures was just as genuine as in person.
