When I Started:
Nov, 2005
How I Started:
I've always had weight issues. Years ago I bought a weight bench and had a friend help me get started and I loved working out--for a whole year. Then...my bf (now) husband got married, we bought a house, and in 2002 had a baby boy and the weight bench never was reassembled.
I gained huge amounts of weight with my pregnancy-I was eating for two, right? I reached my heaviest at 290 lbs. being 8 months pregnant. I never "popped" back to pre-pregnancy weight.
In November 2005, I visited the doctor and discovered that I was Type II diabetic. Weighing in at 240 lbs., my doctor suggested I follow the Zone Diet and exercise. Losing weight and exercising could possibly reverse it. This was a huge turning point to get it in gear and do something.
Why I Love It:
It is a great stress reliever, mood booster, energizer and it is "mommy's time".
How I Stay Motivated:
Holding on to these before pictures truly helps. It reminds me of how far I've come, thinking that it was impossible. Who knows how far I could go?
Hearing, reading, and seeing other people's success stories. I have grown to love this website because I believe there are a lot of people that have made drastic changes and these people are as common as myself. I idolize women with 4 kids who are nothing but muscle, what excuse do I have?--I only have one child.
BB Accomplishments:
Completed Body for Life Challenge (3 times) 1998-1999.

This was me...EEK! Don't mean to scare anybody but this pic does help me to remember how terrible I felt-mentally and physically.
Front right bicep...no there's nothing there, but thought I'd show it before I started the program...
I want to lose 20 lbs. by April 1, 2008.
I want to compete in my first 5K run on April 20, 2008.
Goal (Long):
I tend to have to questions in my head "Can I do this?" "Is this even remotely possible?" I would love to have and maintain muscle definition. I want to appear younger than my real age. I want to be able to wear a bikini. I would love to study to be a personal trainer and help people out--with my past before pictures, anyone could find belief in themselves. I want to be able to make working out a lifestyle and not a "phase". I want to show my son how important it is to be in good health and feel good about yourself. I want to look totally awesome for my 15 year school reunion next year in May. I will put forth my upmost efforts to achieve these things in one year.
Geez, I'm letting time pass me by without blogging...so here's my update: I'm on week #3 of the P90X...I was off to a really rocky start seems like. I changed my diet up to get just the right amount of carb/pro/fats in, and after two weeks, made some alterations there. I did make a 5.5...
Maybe you just need to find what works for you and your schedule. You'll get there! If you ever need a kick in the rear to get you going let me know. I lived in Kansas for a long time so I know my way there! LOL!!
Just find something you like and stick with it. Start small, and work on keeping a positive attitude. As you develop a routine you can add things to it or shake things up. Remember to include rest in your schedule. Good luck facing the challenges ahead.
Just checking in to see how you are doing. I'm still losing the weight, but had a couple set-backs as you read. I wish you continued success and hopefully no more inuries - take care!
You can do it!! People here are awesome. Your hard work will continue to pay off. My training and diet is going well. Trying to gain lean muscle and loose the body fat. Thanks 4 the kind words. I'll definitely stop by and say hello along the way. Keep training hard!! Have a great weekend. :)
Yes I have dropped a loy of weight and that is a good thing, all new clothes and in sizes I havent been in for years!!!. I have stopped training for this week to rest, will start again after weekend and push extra hard for a few months and see what happens.
I have the scabby flu! I started having this cough yesterday and now my ears and throat are really aching. It's not doing the asthma any good. Now I'm out of breath climbing the stairs and really angry that my hard work is going to be wasted! If I feel well enough I'll run, but treat it like my normal jog rather than really run hard.
Am feeling a bit down this week, not seeing enough progress I guess. Still too chicken to load photos, will try soon. I saw you had added some and you are making progress keep at it see ya
I'm making a small bit of progress-but that is better than backwards progress! Midterms have been this week and I have a final next week-I realize that the first thing that goes out the window when I am starting to get stressed/overwhelmed is anything that I do for me... hmmm...maybe I shoudl blog about that :) And you? I hope that you are progressing too!!!
