I have just started working out seriously, making use of the gym here at college. My roommate has been training for a few years now and inspired me to start working out. I joined the Bodybuilding.com community because I felt that the guidance of more experienced weight-lifters could only help.
Why I Love It:
Going to the gym itself is always a great stress reliever. I feel like I'm accomplishing something new each time I go in there. I also love reading workout articles and studying the science behind working out - it's something I can learn and actually apply to life.
How I Stay Motivated:
I think back on the gains that I've made and know that I can only go up from here. Every time I go to the gym, it only takes me a few minutes to get pumped and ready to lift.
BB Accomplishments:
I've started regularly slapping the 45 lb. weights on either side of the bench press bar and it feels good.

This picture was taken when I opened this bodyspace in late 2006 - 1 month into training.
This is several months into training - 160 lbs, 15% bodyfat.
I began training at 140 pounds and have slowly crawled my way up to 160. I have picked up bodyfat, admittedly, but I have continued increasing my lifts throughout the past semester. Although my training slacked for a few weeks, I have been able to steadily gain despite the balancing act of a job, regular coursework and preparation for the GMAT exam. I want to continue gaining and get up to 180 by the end of the year.
I'll be at summer school this entire summer, and I have no current plans to be heading to the beach. In addition, my school doesn't have a pool...so the chances of me regularly having my shirt off are significantly less than previous summers. So, I decided to take the extra time I'm going to...
This is the workout I'm doing over the Christmas holidays, while it's a lot easier to regulate food intake. I just finished a month in a full body workout and I plan to return to one after Christmas.

Hey bud I was skinnier than you when I was 18 but put on about 25 pounds before I was 22, so hang in there, lift hard, and eat every 2-3 hours (good clean food).
