My dear sister, IFBB Fitness Pro – Sandy Grant, invited me to watch her “fitness routine practice” one day, and I had an epiphany right there while watching! I wanted to do this too! She and I had always watched the Fitness America Pageants, Miss USA & Cheerleading competitions on ESPN2. When Sandy started to prepare for her first show, I was a bit skeptical, but Sandy had always followed a strict eating plan, so I had no idea what it entailed.
She got me in touch with her nutritionist and fitness coach at the time, and I began completely changing my lifestyle. I had grown accustomed to late nights out with friends and fast food on the way home! Integrating healthy balanced meals with early morning cardio was tough at first. I took progress pictures every month, and I was truly amazed with my transformation. Sandy was with me every day in the gym, teaching me how to lift properly, motivating me to keep going when I was tired or discouraged, and was my ultimate cheerleader and best friend through my contest prep.
Finding myself a very shy person, my fitness coach helped bring out a fun and funky personality that I had always held back on. I was hooked on the sport once I began my actual Fitness Mandatory Routine. All of my joy and passion went into my performance.
After my 2003 contests, I was in a car accident, and my injuries kept me from prepping for the 2004 Nationals as I had originally planned. I came to rely on famed Contest Suit Designer, Merry Christine (merrychristine.com), to help me with my rehabilitation. She helped get me to walk normal, start lifting again, and changed my life forever. She became a great friend and mentor to me.
I started training Fitness and Figure Athletes in 2002, and haven’t looked back! I find great joy in “Paying it Forward”. My sister helped me find my joy in life in fitness. I hope that by guiding others, they too can find the happiness of leading a healthier lifestyle, and look fantastic while doing it!
Sandy and I have since moved onto different Trainers, Nutritionist & Choreographers… but we never forget about the people that helped raise us in the sport. We currently are with Mike Davies of the Fitness Factory (mikedaviesfitness.com) and are looking forward to each new season.

How I Stay Motivated:
I Go To Bed On Time!
That way I am well rested, repaired, and ready for my day.
Let's face it. There is struggle everytime your eyes flutter open in the morning. You can do one of two things. Get up.....or Don't
I have had issues with my morning cardio fully based on what happend the day before. The true bliss of preparation is my motivation.
Food Packed (check)
AM Cardio Clothes out (check)
Afternoon workout bag packed (check)
Work bag, purse, workout bag, lunch bag all by door and ready to go (check)
Night time cardio completed (check)
Turn TV off by 9.....oops!
My sleeping patterns are the one thing that stops me in my tracks for the next day. So I try to do my best and calm myself down and be ready for sleep so I can get the rest I need.

How has bodybuilding and fitness helped and/or changed your family life?
I live a clean, healthy, and active lifestyle now. Before it was all about where to go out at night, and now it's all about what kind of workout will be going on the next day. How has bodybuilding and fitness helped you in your career?
Being in shape definately speaks to "do as I say, not what I do" issue. After my accident, I definately didn't look the part of a Personal Trainer. Other than the obvious benefits (appearance, health, etc.), how has bodybuilding and fitness improved your overall life?
Fitness fulfills me. Simple as that. I have incredible strength, and I can put it to good use (grin). But it has given me direction, focus, and allows me to have FUN! I really don't like to sit on the couch and watch TV THAT much...I love being able to go on adventures, be comfortable in my own skin, shop off the rack, and breath without issues. I no longer live an unhealthy lifestyle...Fitness fulfills me. Simple as that. I have incredible strength, and I can put it to good use (grin).
