I was not happy with the fat that was sticking with me. I gained weight over the winter of '07-'08 and have not been able to get it off. My family likes to eat out or fix something new involving 'dessert'. I'm a sucker for sweets and pizza and only eat that when my family fixes it, puts it in a candy dish, or orders it. I never buy or fix that stuff. So, I began by losing 5 lbs in late May, but gained it all back and a few more while on a trip to South Africa, where I ate A LOT of food, but was active, thankfully. Throughout the summer, I wasn't happy wearing trunks while swimming since I would feel so flabby. In August, I told myself, 'I need more muscle'. So, I started doing a series of body weight exercises and saw, no, more like, felt improvement. So, right now, I'm working more on bulking up and supplementing that with protein and lots of lean cuts of meat, eggs, and spinach salad. I'm still eating the bad food here and there. I seem to have lost some body fat, but also have gained musculature. My weight has remained stable, but my body feels and looks different. This is motivating me and I am working harder now.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling afterwards. It gives me an 'high'. I also love the accomplishment and the boost to my confidence.
How I Stay Motivated:
By watching myself transform. Also am very aware of the health crisis we have in America today and do not want to be a part of that in the future, so I want to keep myself as fit and healthy as I can. I have family and friends who are constantly going to the doctor about something and most of their problems can be traced to an unhealthy lifestyle.
BB Accomplishments:
To gain about 15 lbs. of muscle and to get body fat down to 5% at one point, just to make an accomplishment. I would keep it around 8-10% since it's easier. I hear most have a hard time keeping at 5% or lower and can be hard on the body. I just want to be fit, strong, healthy. I have remained healthy, active, and am part of a program at my company which monitors health of employees. I have a perfect score! I love that. No major accomplishments planned, though I would like to participate in marathons.

Which pro bodybuilder/fitness/figure competitor has the ideal physique? Why?
Although I admire them for their dedication, pro bodybuilders are too big, and I have no desire to work towards that. Don't have a name, but if I look in some mags, I could come up with one.

Do you sometimes use energy enhancing supplements?
Yes
Which supplements do you take? When do you take them?
Ripped Fuel 5X (which can be found at Wal-Mart) has a variety of components in it that help provide extra energy. I take them according to instructions on the bottle and usually when I need extra energy or know that I will be eating more than usual so my metabolism will be increased during and after the meal. I get reasonable results at a reasonable price from this supplement. Ripped Fuel 5X (which can be found at Wal-Mart) has a variety of components in it that help provide extra energy.
