My Dad was a pretty serious non competitive Body Builder in the late 70's early 80's. I was a chubby 12 year old and wanted to look like my dad. One summer of Chef's Salads, home made yogurts and Tuna Sandwiches combined with running and lifting and my body was transformed. I was able to maintain that look from 1980-1991. I let myself go for a couple of years then came back. I have cycled like that 3 times since. I am tired of the up and down of being out of shape. This is now just who I am. Although I put down September as my start, I had actually been going to the gym since April with little results and no plan. Now I have a plan and I am working it.
Why I Love It:
I like moving a body part and seeing the muscle change the entire shape of that part. I like the way the muscle feels when it is flexed. I love the control you have over your body when in shape.
How I Stay Motivated:
I obsess about how I look and feel. I read everything I can. I am trying using this site and a public journal for accountability.
BB Accomplishments:
None so far. Never got to the kind of condition I would feel could be competitive.
Why I like this video: Jack is telling it like it is! I repeat this stuff daily to my Mother in Law, and it never sinks in. Quit giving my kids SUGAR! It's nothing more than crack for kids.
Thanks for the words man. Basically I can only do low impact exercises. the main reason for this is the pressure on my heart and the aortic valve. It has nothing to do with strength, being out of shape or anything like that, basically what could happen if there is too much pressure is the valve can go pop, and we all now what that means. So that is the reason for the low impact exercising like yoga (still working on this one), walking, etc. Anyway stay strong and great work with your results!
I did food safety for some grocery store chains and drug stores. I don't know why, but the pesticide applicator license was part of that deal. I do Internet stuff now. It actually sucks.
Former licensed pest applicator in the state of Pennsylvania right here! I always found bugs were easiest to control by flexing your big pipes at them. They know a bad man when they see one!
I definitely take the germaphobe thing to a new level - I use two towels, one to sit on and one for the sweat. I wear long sleeves and gloves, and would never think to step on the locker floors without slippers. But I definitely agree that people kind of think they're bad arses if they're going while sick... I just think it's inconsiderate. Thanks for stopping by :)
Hey thanks for the comment on my blog. I wouldnt say I have a lack of muscle but that 5 kg loss did change quite a bit. But thanks. Best of luck to you!
yeah lol, I think those mirrors make me look better than the ones I have at home. Must be the opposite from the ones at the circus. Good luck w/ ur goals.
I squated for the first time since I blew the disc. I guess that was about 6 weeks ago, but I squated in a smith machine and exagerated my feet forward to put the pressure on the quads and aleviate as much off the back. I only went up to 225 trying to test the back. The weight feels really light, but I was getting positioned under the weight and could feel it...cannot afford an accident. I am hoping to make the nationals in 09!
Yea I got the staples out Tuesday a week ago. Not really much scaring barley noticable. A little pain when I move certain directions. Very small range of motion. I get a little down I think due to not being able to train really gets to me. I cant due resistance training for 4 months. Doc says only recumbant bike or tread mill very slow. But CONSIDERING it's as good as it could be.
