How I Started:
I wanted to get in top shape for my 40th birthday/year. I had been quite inactive for several years due to back problems (2 ruptured discs/back surgery in 2003; re-protrusion of rupture in 2005) & a brief bout w/cancer in 2005. I realized that if you don't use it, you loose it, and my fears of straining or injuring my back were blocking my progress.
Why I Love It:
Working out keeps me mentally, physically, and emotionally fit & stable. My back is much stronger & less painful when I'm working out regularly. Plus I must admit I love the pump after a good workout, and love it when my pecs & biceps pop out of my shirt.
How I Stay Motivated:
I need goals with specific dates/events to keep me motivated (i.e: looking good for a specific beach trip, birthday, or other event).
