Being a mom to barely two year old twins and a baby 16 months younger and working full time as a state social worker made me forget how much I love to exercise. I joined the YMCA so my children could play with other children and worked my way over to the weight area. I started working out with weights and was amazed at how in just six months--I didn't just look great, I felt awesome! I then started teaching gymnastics and cheerleading and realized that I couldn't make a nine year old do push ups and not participate--so it prompted me more. I started working at Gold's Gym (love it!) as an aerobic instructor and personal trainer (both certified through AFAA). It's a way of life now!
Why I Love It:
I love the fact that it is up to me totally what results I get. No work-No results! Junk In-Junk Out! It's hard work and it literally shows when you walk in the door.
How I Stay Motivated:
I encourage others. If I see a newbie at the gym, I introduce myself and offer any help. I love working with the children that I teach gymnastics and cheerleading to and it is important for them to see that even as an adult, you can and should stay physically fit.

To get over my fear and FINALLY compete in a fitness competition! Hey, did you see me Southern Muscle--twice!? WHOOAA!!!
Goal (Long):
Now that I have a couple competitions under my belt, I want to actually do an entire diet cycle without cheating once. I can do it! Next competition is in April 09. I am finally going to SUCK IT UP and do a fitness competition...and who knows, maybe a (gasp) figure competition!!
I thought if I stopped working one 40 hour a week job, I would have time to actually devote to workouts but that has proven to be untrue. It is strange to train clients all day long in the gym and never lift a weight for myself. My diet has sucked and I've gained. I don't look bad but I...
Are you going to be at the Olympia Expo..? Soda goes straight to my behind so no cheats at all - the biggest cheat I do is put a pinch of cinnamon and sugar in my cottage cheese and soy butter on a rice cake...
Congratulations! Your pics look amazing and now not only have you competed but won. So I have my 10 year reunion in three months, any advice? I want to put on a little more size and see if I can’t hit 195 by that time. Not sure if I will go but it gives me a good goal in the future to aim at. The reunion is at the Birmingham Art Museum so it should be real nice.
I was actually going to compete in the panama city event, but I messed up my diet and lost about 1/2 inch in my arms. Lost more muscle than fat.LOL.I was weighing in at 198 and was going to lean out to 165-170 but after that little mishap I knew I would get crushed. I don't want my 1st competition to be a complete flop.LOL. Next time I am going to have to get paired up w/ someone that knows what they are doing.I'm in Phenix City now.Do you know anyone up here that would be good to train with?
