Goal (Long):
On July 9th 2009 I was in the gym training as I have for the past 30yrs this month (training since 1979) when I had an strange "blank" feeling of something went wrong (way wrong) I remember being in the machine called the Hack Squat, I recall wrapping my knees for safety and protection, tightening my weight belt, dis-engaging the weight and positioning my feet to begin squatting when suddenly I was at the bottom of the machine wondering what just happened??? In short I don't remember going down, I just remember getting ready to descend??? I suddenly realized again that something had gone "way" wrong! So I twisted to my left trying to get out from under the machine, which had been stopped by the safety brackets "near" the bottom preventing the device/machine from crushing anyone (in this case me) in case something goes wrong! I then tried to get up and stand so again I could try to figure out "what" went wrong? As I tried to get up and stand I couldn't so I decided to look at my feet and see what the heck was going on, when I looked down (as I was stuck in a squatting position) I didn't see my feet where I thought they were supposed to be? In front on the machine where your feet go onto the platform is a mirror. so I decided to look into the mirror to locate my feet, as I looked into the mirror I saw my feet were "about" 2 1/2 feet under and behind where I thought they should be I then noticed 2 large bulges where my knees were, I quickly pulled my pants leg up only to confirm what had "now" immediately entered my mind (did I just blow my quads out?) and the answer was "YES" and I now realized this whole time that I had already gone into "shock" so I now decided I need to try to stay as calm as I possibly can other wise the pain that "IS" going to come is going to be more than I can bare. So I turned to 1 of my 2 workout partners and said call 911 and get my wife (who was doing cardio with our 14yr old daughter) I was able to remain calm until the paramedics got me into the ambulance and suddenly as the doors closed the reality kicked in I'm hurt and in a bad way. I had surgery the next day (July 10th) and all went well. I have to admit after all had sunk in I had a about a week of morning blues (aka depression), on Wednesday July 15th (6 days after the accident and 5 days after surgery, I went to 24 hours in Fontana, Ca. and got on the treadmill with my cast braces and walked (on the slowest speed 0.5) for 2 hours and that was with no holding on to the rails (hands free) as I am determined to recover and rehab myself (under my Doctors care) being smart careful "but" also with a bodybuilders mentality that I "will" recover and I will be better than ever. Today July 24th I want to say that I know I have a long journey ahead of me, but like any of the other challenges I'm already giving it my all. In saying that all I want to focus on now is simply walking normal again and then I will return to training for competition and I will return no doubt!!! Quiters never win and winners never "quit", and "anyone" who knows me I never quit:-) see ya soon!!!
Later and thanks to all who have already prayed for me to recover I appreciate it a lot!!!
Update, I'm now able to run "yeah" :-) yes as of Oct 9th 2009 (91 days after injury).
God is good:-) Never quit I didn't and wont!!!

I train on a 5 day rotation, for example it takes me 5 days to train my entire body on day 6 I either take that day off or begin my 5 day training cycle again it all depends on my energy levels if I'm feeling good I might not take a day off until 10 or 11 days down the road, you have to...
That's great to hear D... And in only such a short period of time too... Keep progressing Big D and keep me updated! As for me... My next stop for a show I'm looking at Jr Nationals in Chicago... Currently sitting around 245 lbs.. this is the biggest I've ever been! =]

Hi! The show went great. I won the Heavyweight line-up and qualified to go to the IFBB SA Champs. I decided not to peak at this show or to come in so hard and so I sacrificed the Overall Title. I want to peak at SA's and take the Overall Title there. Current weight - 241.34lbs. Competition pics are up. Check them out and let me know what you think. Fun and games will start know. I will be dropping another 8.8 to 11lbs.
