Background

When I Started: Sep 2001
HOW I STARTED:

I wanted to make a lifestyle change and get in shape, but not just in shape. I always loved training and lifting. It was a way for me to organize my life and challenge myself. I also loved flexing in front of people and getting a reaction. I remember flexing in front of friends and girls and showing off how I could hold a pencil between my pecs. It was my first posedown..lol I also just wanted to be bigger.

WHY I LOVE IT:

It is a thrill and a great way to stay healthy. Its intense. I love the pump, and how I look when I am training.I dont think I will ever stop training. I always feel good after. Even after the really taxing workouts I feel good after. Tired, but good.

Getting there

Everyday is a struggle, but I am up and out of my rack here on this ship. Its coffee and try to get some breakfast. Eggs over easy, toast, and butter. A glass of milk, and some coffee. multi vitamin, fish oil, and CLA and its time to work. I go thru the day and take down a shake 2 hours later if I remember. This ship will make you lose track of time and even what day it is.


I usually workout in the evenings. Its circuit style or supersets, and I always do at least 20 minutes of moderate cardio after weights. Today will be shoulder chest and trapz. I will do 3 sets flat DB pres

So, I am 7 weeks into deployment now on board a DDG Guided missile destroyer, and things are good. I am eating 4 to 6 meals daily depending on work and my watch schedule. I will also eat peanut butter and Jam sandwhiches for snacks. My meals consist of meats a starch and veggies. I do not eat pastries much, but will eat fruits like water melon, and will eat yogurt if they have it. I will eat cereal with milk too. Training has been different. Mostly lighter weights and my choice of exercises is limited so I get creative. Today I did bulgarian squats with about 80 pounds on an ex bar. All I got,...

Deployment

So, I have been on deployment around 3 weeks now, and its going ok. I had some pretty good pain in my right rotator cuff, and took a few days to only train legs,  but its healing. I need to get some deep tissue once we hit port. I am eating enough calories, but tightening down on my diet enough to manage my physique to minimize bodyfat. I want to have an easier time prepping after I get back from deploying. I am going to bring training volume up a notch, and keep the intensity up too.
