I started training when I was young but when I got to be about 21 yrs. old, I had quit. When I was 28 years old I started again because I didn't like what I saw when I looked in the mirror.
Why I Love It:
The feeling of staying fit, looking younger then I am, being healthy, more energy and eating right makes me feel good about myself. It gives me more self confidence.
How I Stay Motivated:
I always set personal goals for myself. I document each work out with each individual exercise with sets/reps and poundages. When I best my last workout I'm so excited
BB Accomplishments:
I've never competed in a bodybuilding contest but my own accomplishments are my own personal bests. Leading others to a more active and healthy lifestyle and getting them started in bodybuilding is another personal accomplishment. Usually people notice my body and they want to be like me so it's pretty easy to lead them. I like to do personal training.
I had rotator cuff repair in 2004. I've had a weakness in my right shoulder ever since. It's starting to come around but not as fast as I'd like. I've changed my routine around so I train chest once a week instead of twice. I just started doing this about 3 weeks ago. This is what I started doing.
5 sets of flat bench,
5 sets of dips with a dip belt,
5 sets of dumbell flies,
5 set's of military presses,
5 sets of upright rows,
5 sets of dumbell lateral raises,
5 sets of dumbell raises to the front,
5 sets of lying tricep extensions,
5 sets of tricep pressdowns
5 sets of dips again but isolated for my triceps.
I think this should do the trick!
I've tried cortisone shots that relieved the pain for a short time. The orthopedic surgeon that I saw told me it was tendonitis. He said, eventually I wouldn't need the shots anymore but the pain comes back. I took the shots for at least twice a year for about 3-4 years when I had tried...
Matt, thanks for the inspiration for someone who is well into the 40's. I guess the worst part of working out comes from hitting those walls when the results don't seem to come until weeks (months) later. I'm at one of those walls trying to lose another 20 lbs around the mid-section. Man, that's tough. I've changed up my routine and stepped up the cardio, so let's see what happens.
Yeah, it's a joke. Stalking just means that you added them, but they haven't added you (yet) in return. Once they do, you'll both be mutual friends. Likewise, if someone is stalking you, they'll show up in your "fan club." =)
