I started bodybuilding as soon as I finished my short run at professional baseball. Once I decided not to play anymore, I entered my first competition and have been competing ever since.
Why I Love It:
I love the way bodybuilding makes me feel like I am accomplishing something. It's exciting to see your body change for the better, to watch PRs go up, and see your condition improve with each competition.
How I Stay Motivated:
Motivation is never a problem for me. Even when there are times that I don't feel like working out, all I have to do is throw in Pumping Iron and I'm ready to go!
BB Accomplishments:
I was able to win "Mr. ISU" and "Mr. Wabash Valley" which were local competitions where I'm from. That's what started my bodybuilding career. Recently, I won the 2007 OCB Overall Mr. Natural Indiana, and the 2007 OCB Overall Midwest Stated to receive my IFPA pro card!

"Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But, to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength."
To step on the IFPA pro stage in 2009 and place in the top 3!
Goal (Long):
I've just placed 1st overall at my first pro qualifier ~ The 2007 OCB Midwest States ~ and received my IFPA pro card! I am now more determined than ever, and I am taking all of 2008 to bring up my weaker areas to bring an even better package to the pro stage in 2009! My goal is to dial it in to place top 3 in my professional debut.
Weight Goal:
I want to GAIN 20 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
8%

Why I like this video: This was my second set of dumbbell military press. For the first set I was able to complete 10 reps. This set I fell just short.
Weighted Pullups
Played: 675
Why I like this video: Here I'm doing one of my favorite exercises...the weighted pullup. I'm pulling my bodyweight + 35 for 10 reps. I really try to go all the way down and go as far up as I can to squeeze the hell out of the lats.

Here I'm trying out pause squats for the first time ever. After the workout, I have found most people performing these are pausing for longer. So, next time I'll lower the weight and pause longer.

Thanks... Really pushing for it and seeign the results.. Got Musclemania next week.. Really happy to be getting back on stage.. You have any shows coming up?
tommy, have you ever heard of a show called the Emerald Cup? I saw it on MD.com...is it a natural show? I tried looking at some of the pics, but couldn't really tell. Wondered if you knew or could find out! Good luck planning your wedding...8 more weeks to go till stage again!!
Tommy,
When are moving to Indianapolis? Hopefully if you join LA Fitness I can jump in a couple of your workouts. Well, at least maybe I can jump in a couple of your warmups. Just kidding, I don't think you'd have to break down the weight to much to workout with me. Legs, questionable...
Congratulations! That is AWESOME! Getting married is way cooler than competing anyway ;) I know all the stuff that goes into wedding planning; that's a lot of work! Very happy for you, man.
Yo Tommy, I just stumbled across your routine on youtube (I am checkin out routines to get an idea of what I'm gonna have to do!). Anyway, I added it to my profile page, b/c it is an awesome example of a posing routine, and how one should be conditioned for a show. Awesome job, man! So impressive. I'm workin really hard to get the bf% down, and I've been workin on my poses. I gotta work on a routine now though! June 13th, man! When do you compete again?
Yeah, good seeing you too and catching up! My friend Mike I was with said you guys talked and they edited the video to make it look like we bashed each other! Now that tax stuff is done, you're focusing on a show? I start dieting in 2 weeks! I'm exager to fix some of the things I didn't know last year!
I guess I knew that answer. None the less I'm hammering away at my legs, and trying to get that bf% down as low as I can. Thanks a lot.

Hey man I appreciate your comment about creatine and contest prep. I questioned you back on it. I agree with you, when I did a 2 week contest prep trial I monohydrate loaded for 3 days prior to what would have been the show day and my muscle cells filled up nicely with water, it was great. My question for you though is if I'm taking ethyl esther up to the 3 day load before the show will my muscles not take in the monohydrate as well because of the ethyl esther I'll have been taking?
Well I am 14 weeks out and at 7% bf. I have a lot of fat left to loose but I think I at least won't get laughed off stage at this point. I am happy with the progress to date. My legs are lagging though. unfortunately I have a bad lower back. Any suggestions on ow to bring up my legs? Thanks for your support by the way. I have enjoyed watching you on bb.com.
