Basically I got started working out when I enlisted in the Maine Corps. Back then I couldn't even run a 1/4 mile without hacking a lung up. I was 250lbs and by the time I left Boot Camp I was a lean & mean 181lbs. Back then my goal was strictly weight loss and endurance, now I want both those still, but I also want to put on straight muscle mass with a low body fat percentage.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling I have after a good workout. Whether it be running or lifting or whatever I'm doing that day. Nothing beats the feeling of accomplishment and self-worth when you kick another day down.
How I Stay Motivated:
My family has a history of heart disease and none of the males in my family have seemed to make it out of their 70s so I'm going to beat those odds. Also I want to set the example for my son. I was the "token-fat-kid" growing up and I don't want him to have to live through that. But how can I look him in the eye and tell him these things when Daddy is out of shape also...

Shed body fat while increasing my over all muscle mass, strength, and endurance...
Goal (Long):
Maintain myself and keep the fat off while gaining mass, strength, and endurance... I think I'm at right about 20-21% body fat and I like to cut that in half as my starting goal... Eventually I'd like to shoot for the single digits, but for now I'll maintain a realistic short term goal and keep the singles in the long-run...
Well made it here safe & sound... Have been here about a month now & I'm doing pretty well... Supposed to hit the board for promotion soon AND we've got a pretty good gym on out Combat Operations Base (COB)... Have been hitting it pretty hard when I can & seein' great...
I just PMed you a recipe, since everyone else seems to be doing it ;)
It's a favorite meal of mine that's actually pretty healthy. I figured it wouldn't hurt. Besides, as a former Corpsman, I figure I gotta look out for a Marine ;)
left you a private message with a great recipe that can make seven servings at once so you should be able to make it once a week and add it to your diet. i make it on sundays and eat two servings a day on mondays and tuesdays. I share also! Anyway, you can also use cooked, shredded chicken breast instead of the turkey
Im tellin you it makes you angry - you get used to i though. .. lost all my friends - pissed off all the time-- i was angry lol and now Im thin - with no friends ROFL pm tomorrow and i will tell u about it : ) the diet that is-- cardio is key !!!!despite what is said on here , he trains women for show and its mandatory 2 hour cardio sessions, and they always WIN 1st place
Serious its the mofo of diets - The guy that initially helped me get started was and is a bodybuilder and a marine --hooorah the diet he gave me i named the "angry diet"
take a look at my BEFORE pix - now thats a food addiction lol - I lost most of my weight with hi intensity cardio and using a polar heart rate monitor and what I called the angry diet LOL
Eating clean sux in the beginning - but I do 24/7 now, with an occ cheat day - but when I cheat - and eat bad food ie: pizza- I am sick for days - so I have learned my lesson on that one -- I cant even use mayo anymore - YUK and I used to love that stuff : )
My previous assignment was joint duty, so I have great respect for Marines AND Soldiers ;) Amazing that you could choose such a dramatic change in your life - Army dress uniforms have way too many things pinned on!
