When I Started:
Jun, 2007
How I Started:
I've always been active. But I just started really training hard this past summer. I wasn't able to skate much in Canada so I went to the gym and good karma brought me to an awesome trainer. He really pushed me to do things that I never thought I could. And it turns out that I love it.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel so strong, mentally and physically. There's an indescribable feeling of energy and bliss when I leave the gym. I also really like the way my body is taking shape.
How I Stay Motivated:
I don't have a trainer while I'm in school but I do research to get some new training techniques and exercises. I'm motivated by that awesome feeling of strength. I'm also trying to push myself to lift more weight and build myself more.
BB Accomplishments:
The first day I did cleans with the olympic bar (might seem a small thing for all the bodybuilders). It was a proud day for me and my body.
I've got the endurance part down. But I get my butt kicked in the short races. As an inline speed skater, I need speed with these legs. The endurance that I have from running only gets me so far.

What I found out was that my legs are already plenty strong enough to go fast, my problem is bad technique rather than strength. What I found was that the weight training on my legs was actually slowing me down, making my legs fatigue and lock up prematurely during races. Now I do no weight training whatsoever on my legs, I just skate. When I can't skate, I sometimes use my slide board, that and biking are the next best things.
