SharonsJourney

Overall Goal:  I want to have a healthy/lean body and build muscle.

Fit Status:  Getting frustrated. Feel like I'm taking 2 steps forward, 1 step back!

When I Started:
Jul, 2008
How I Started:
I reached a top weight that was 90 lbs over normal/healthy. I went to my doctor for an annual check-up & was told I have high cholesterol. At the time I had high triglycerides too, but I've been successful in lowering them to a normal level. I continue to take medication for my cholesterol. I was obese & HAD to make a lifestyle change.
Why I Love It:
Working out has helped me to continue losing weight and is building muscle. It's given me energy and also improves my mood.
How I Stay Motivated:
I have photos from when I started this journey and some of me now. I look at them to remind me of how far I've come. I'm wearing clothes that are 4 sizes smaller then when I began. I think about how happy I am to feel my clothes getting loose. I enjoy seeing the success stories here, as well. That's very motivating to me.
BB Accomplishments:
I haven't ever been lean & muscular. I intend to change that. Even at my age, I believe I can build some muscle and have some definition. That will be a major accomplishment for me.

Top weight 225 lbs Half way there. This shows a 50 lb loss
Decided to take before, during and after pictures to help encourage me. Seeing this picture brought me to tears, but also made me more determined.
I've been at it 1 yr now. I wasn't exercising up to this point. I changed my eating habits in hopes of loosing fat and lowering my triglycerides. This picture shows a 50 lb wt loss. My triglycerides came down from 263 to 109. Yay for me! 45 more lbs to go. I'm now exercising regularly.

I'm trying not to get disappointed/concerned about the fact that I haven't lost any weight this past week. Actually, according to the scale I've gained 2 lbs. I keep a daily diary of my calorie intake, so I know I'm not eating too much. My husband reminded me that I'm at a time of the month when...
