When I Started:
Aug, 2000
How I Started:
I had a couple of knee surgeries and as I was laying on the couch I said to myself, "I will never take being able to run or excercise for granite again." After that I started reading and studying how to workout and eat properly. I have been going full throttle since then. I switch focuses from w/o to running and back again and this keeps my size down. I love both so it is hard to pick one.
Why I Love It:
I guess we are all making up for something that we felt we didn't accomplish earlier in life. I love w/o b/c it makes me feel like a better person and healthier for sure. Also, there is no better way to get self confidence, except by telling a great joke.
How I Stay Motivated:
By telling myself that you still have a long way to go and also by knowing that you can be the best, but that bar can be moved. Only hard work can keep you get you there and keep you at the top.
BB Accomplishments:
None at this time. I have placed in some 5K and 10K races, helps me stay lean and adds motivation.

SeawallBlvdchanged Weight from 173 lbs. to 195 lbs., a 22 lb. gain in 53 days
Working to bring back the Classic physique from the 60-70's.
Goal (Long):
I was always motivated by the physiques from the Golden Era of Bodybuilding. I want to bring that back into today's world. Going further back, Steve Reeves was the one who got me motivated to get started in the first place. Being big as a car is admirable but the clean lines and cuts of the classics are what drives me.

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
Nothing like running in the great outdoors. Cannot stand being on a treadmill it is like a hampster on a wheel. Never too cold or too hot, makes you tough.
Good for you! That's a good show-I did it last year. I will be there for sure (I always go to the am judgings around the area) so I'll be sure to cheer you on!
No-I didn't compete this year :( My trainer told me to sit this year out, build more mass & be ready for nationals next year. I'm really excited b/c I've made huge gains! I plan to start next April w/the Ronnie Coleman show in Dallas :) How are things with you?
Dude -- I wish I was going. I've never been to one either. I just missed the Europa Super Show in Dallas. 35 minutes away & I missed it -- I just had no idea it was here. I found out after the fact. That's what staying too busy will do for ya.
I'm sure you'll do well at your first show! To lessen jitters.. go through your pre-contest diet (experiment a little with cutting carbs, salt, etc) to see how it affects you... and practice posing.. a lot!! see ya :)
I just did the Lone Star Classic last weekend, next one is September 12. As far as nerves...do your best to prepare. if you meet your own goals as far as show prep, you have already won. Stage fright and nerves are all part of it, at that point it's a mental game and you gotta repeat in your head "I own this stage". at least that's what I do. It gets easier with each comp. :)
