When I Started:
Oct, 2007
How I Started:
Bought a few weights after high school and was amazed by the professional bodybuilders in the magazines. Since then I've been on-and-off for years, but never really serious. Now, I'm comitted to making this a lifestyle (which is why I changed my "Start Date" above to Oct. 07).
Why I Love It:
It gives me more confidence and makes me feel energetic, healthy, ALIVE!
How I Stay Motivated:
I read a few mags, and check out the progress of the amazing folks here on Bodyspace and also spend a LOT of time on Bodybuilding.com. One insanely cool e-book I've got has been my inspiration for quite a while: Burn The Fat, Feed The Muscle by Tom Venuto. If you don't have it, GET IT. the most thorough and informative book on nutrition and fat-burning I've ever read.
BB Accomplishments:
So far, being able to still lose bodyfat and drop inches off my waist while sidelined due to a rib injury. Nutrition really IS powerful!

158 lbs, not sure about bodyfat here, but it's gotta be at least 26% or higher. Waist was about 37" I think.
Good Lord I can't believe how much I let myself go over the years! But looking at these shots, I can definitely see progress. Left side was taken July 2004, I was at 164 lbs, zero workouts, terrible nutrition, and about 27% bodyfat. Right shot taken 8/14/2008, 145.6lbs, 19% bf, nutrition is...
Burn the fat, then gain muscle, and making clean-eating and consistent exercise a LIFESTYLE - something I can continue for the rest of my life.
Goal (Long):
For almost 20 years, I've exercised and played around with "proper" nutrition - for about 3-6 months at a time. Read lotsa books, got lots of advice, knew exactly what to do, but never stayed consistent because I always took things to the extreme and then burned out.
Believe it or not, fracturing my rib in the gym in Feb '08 was the thing that made me decide to do it RIGHT, and to do it consistently from here on out. There's nothing like being on the sidelines for almost TEN weeks, desperately wanting to get back in the gym, but knowing I couldn't do a damn thing until I healed. I decided the one thing I could control was what I put in my mouth every day, so I dedicated myself to eating six meals a day, one day at a time, drinking plenty of water, and measuring the results. Over the course of 8 weeks, JUST eating well, I dropped 2 inches off my waist and lost 5 pounds of fat. Zero exercise.
I'm excited to be able to exercise again, but I'm disciplining myself to go slowly, breathe properly, feel each rep, and use the small weights as long as I need to in order to re-gain my strength and build a body I can be proud of, and more importantly, one that'll last me a good long time on this earth and allow me to be around as my little girl grows up.
It ain't about the weight - it's all about the composition!
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 10 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
10%
Upcoming Contest:
I compete against myself. I could clear an auditorium pretty quickly if I got on stage in a thong.
What celebrity body would you most like to have? Why?
Have to say I'd rather build my own "celebrity body" than envy someone else's.

What type of outfit do you usually wear when you workout? Why?
Usually a t-shirt and a pair of jogging pants or shorts. I wear clothes because you wouldn't want to see me workout naked. Plus that's kinda dangerous if you think about it.

What do you think about people who "grunt" loudly while working out? Do you do it?
Everybody's got their own way of feeling powerful and squeezing out those last reps! I don't grunt, but I do fart occasionally.
Is cheating helping me lose fat? Have to post this cuz it's really freakin' me out. So for the past 5+ months I've been eating pretty clean nutritionally - 6 meals a day, clean foods, plenty of water, and only one weekend dessert (not even a full cheat meal.) Saw consistent results in the form...
LOL-so, whats the hold up? Our training is on hold because our son has pneumonia. It messed him up pretty good. So, when he gets better we'll get back to kicking ass. Stay strong- JT
Thanks for the compliments once again. I love this P90X so much I went and bought the P90X Plus as well. Doesn't my wife look buff/great? She is just killing this thing. Sometimes I look at her like, "Who are you? Hi, hows it going? I'm JT." Lol.
It does seem like forever for it to show up.After i had read your blog I was totally energized and i went out and killed the my workout that night.I also became a coach for Team Beachbody. Thanks again for the nice comments in your blog it made my day. later- JT
Thanks for throwing my name in your blog. I'm totally flattered by it.Are you still waiting for the P90X to arrive?I hope you love that program as much as I do.Take care-JT
Thanks for the comments on my pics. You'll love the P90X program. The results come pretty fast. I love it so much I celebrated my 32nd birthday by doing the polymetrics.Lol.I will be watching your progress.Good luck- JT
My left knee is pretty sensative to workouts too. The cardio is fun. I did the polymetrics cardio on Thursday and it was a great workout. Alot of jumps, squat and sports-like moves. I found it very entertaining. I'm gonna go do the 1 hour and 45 minute yoga minute in a second. I will post a blog later on my recent days of doing the P90X. Thanks for the comment! JT
Keep up the good work and you will reach your goal. I was surprised when I reached mine. Still have a bit of fat around the waist. Hopefully the Lean program of P90X will take care of that. BRING IT!!
If you really want to lose that belly and get into great shape I believe it is best to follow a proven program such as Body for Life. I lost over 50 lb’s and went from 36 to 10% bodyfat and my wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 in only 12 weeks by following the Body for Life program. Push yourself, possibly out of your comfort zone and you may be amazed at the results and how fast they happen. It will be well worth the effort.
