When I Started:
Dec, 2005
How I Started:
I originally started when I was in the Navy. I was (and still am) a bit of a dork, and a buddy of mine dragged me down into the weight room. Eventually I ended up getting a nice chest and I have been into it ever since! Of course there are setbacks and such and I have had mine, including putting on a whopping 50lbs only two months after separating from the military. I finally did the college and before i had known it, I started failing all my classes, and I even lost my scholarship. Talk about rough.
I moved to Tampa shortly thereafter and decided to get it off of me. In six months, I had managed to drop the 50lbs and i could wear clothes i could wear in years. I picked up a martial art, had great fun, but always felt i was missing a little something extra.
Why I Love It:
I love being in the gym. I like the atmosphere of purpose and the helpful people. Whenever i come back from a long tenure away, I always ask myself, "Why did I stay away for so long?"
How I Stay Motivated:
Whenever I come to Bodybuilding.com and I see all these people who are actively succeeding in their goals, it motivates me because I think, "Oh yeah. I can do that!"
BB Accomplishments:
My first accomplishment would have to have been the loss of the 50lbs. That was the initial catalyst that has filled my head with the conviction that if i work hard, I can have the body I have always wanted too.
Seeing where Josh started to where he's ended up is very motivational. I was so enthused, I even told people at work and they got excited too! I think I've won over some customers for bodybuilding.com!
So I found out today that I could be losing my job and it has me bummed out. I would love to just sit on my ass and moan about it. Im going to the gym instead. I will not be defeated.
I'm sorry to hear about the situation you're in...I was in a similar one not too long ago. Its great that you're using this as an opportunity to take yourself to another level! Everything happens for a reason, this will take you to a better place :)
Thanks for the comments on my blogs...I'm glad you are able to find some source of motivation from my babble ;-) Good luck on your goals...you can do it!!!
