Overall Goal: Happiness! I've found it on so many levels. Health, Fitness, Spouse, Children, Work. Life is what we make it. What have you done to influence your tomorrow?
Fit Status:
Workouts are feeling great and I am getting some of my best pumps ever.
I joined the military in 1990 and started working out with the guys. My bench, squat, and deadlift were pretty decent and I was approached about joining a powerlifting team. It sounded interesting and I would be surrounded by others who loved lifting as much as me. After a few years of training with those guys I was benching 450 lbs., squating 615 lbs. and deadlifting 585 lbs. I was weighing around 210 lbs. between meets and dropped down to 198 lbs. for each meet. In 1999 I entered Drill Instructor school and had to give all the heavy lifting up as it was affecting my ability to run fast. So, for about eight years I completely stopped lifting. I focused on light lifting and toning during my tour in Iraq in 2007 but never lifted half the weight I did previously. Now that I am about to retire I am lifting heavy again... heavy is a relative term for me as I am only benching in the low 300's right now. I've only been back at it for about four months now and hope to be close to where I once was within 18 months. The difference now is, I am much wiser and have a better understanding of how muscles recover and the importance of nutrition.
Why I Love It:
I enjoy pushing myself to new heights.
How I Stay Motivated:
I motivate myself through working with others who want to improve and reach their goals. My spouse is my workout partner so it makes for a peaceful home when you spend as much time at the gym as I do. I use lots of pictures to monitor my improvement. I also get great support from all the bb.com members who are reaching for their next goal.
BB Accomplishments:
Multiple powerlifting wins throughout the 90's. I mostly workout for my health nowadays but I am interested in seeing just how far I can push my body.
Happiness! I've found it on so many levels. Health, Fitness, Spouse, Children, Work. Life is what we make it. What have you done to influence your tomorrow?
Goal (Long):
Body fat below 10%
Bi's 18"
Waiste 32"
I want to pack on 10 to 15 pounds of muscle, continue to lower my body fat, and improve my symmetry.
I am very impressed. I know it took a lot of hard work and dedication to reach your goals. Now that you have a taste for it you won't ever want to let it go.
Training is going great. I'm off to 29 Palms in the California high desert next week to do a bit of training with the Marines. They have a mock-up Arab village on base. I play an insurgent and they come chasing after me in war games. Lot of fun and I get paid well too! I hope all is well with you.
Hi Roy...training has been uncooperative, almost a breath of evil..I think Thanksgiving treats enlarged my belly, but ignored my chest and legs...and my torso is same as last hopeful measuring session. I need your can-do attitude. Your CinemaScope back is beautiful. Take care, mon ami.
Jim
My new superset routine are awsome...wath a great feeling...my chest is on fire today...its almost the same movement but so mutch energise ..the second week i try to push just a littlebit more.....I DO WORK HARD,....
Nice to hear from you, Roy! The solution to my whey problem is ON whey gold standard mixed with water. Thanks for your help! How are you doing? When are you coming back?
Training is going up and down as I get used to this new computerized leg. I am still working out what exercises I can do different or using more weight than I did with the old leg. It is a bit of a steep learning curve but hopefully this old dog can learn at least one new trick. How about you, anything wild and wonderful to report in your world?
Training's going well now. On a DC regimen for the first time; doing really well by it. Back looks awesome in your new avatar. Really envy your wideness. Keep on hulkin'
your motivation sounds great man. glad to hear everything's rockin' in your world. you're looking jacked man--nice work. how much longer for your tour, brother?
Hi-
Can't remember if I own you a response or not. Soooooooo, My latest move is I've gotten my 280# of Oly weights and did my first serious workout on Sunday.
I moved my workout bench press from 8 x 165# to 8 x 200#. How's that for the first day back. TheRoman:-)
Hey hi roy...im not shure to have reply to your message...on my side i change my routine , with the help of VilainChien i start a all SUPERSET workout, 4 days week like the hold one but only in 60 min, for hight intensity and cardio effect...its awsome....for the next month....more progress to come.......
To be honest with you man I dont count my sets. I just go by how I feel. Some days its more some days less. But its usually somewhere between 3-8 sets. I think what really helped was taking out my arm day and putting in another back day.
Hi Roy, Thanks for being a friend here and the compliment. I have always done some cardio but to get ripped I had to up it to 6 days a week for 90 minutes along with eating extremely clean, low to moderate carbs, high quality protein and good fats. I actually increased my calories. So in my opinion cardio works, a combo of low intensity long duration coupled with high intensity short duration.
God Bless
