How long do you rest between sets on average? Why?
Perhaps a minute or so, I don't measure -- I wait until my heart rate is down and my muscles feel relaxed again. As per the "how many reps" question, I'm not looking to build size, I am interested in strength more than anything else. How many reps per set do you usually do? Why?
5, because I am more interested in strength than size. And Rippetoe says 5 reps is a good usable compromise between 1RM strength and endurance.
So far, the first phase of my project is going more or less according to plan. That plan is: primary focus on gaining muscle, secondary focus on losing fat. While I am by no means attempting any kind of bulk, I am spending my energy at this stage building a solid foundation. I expect to...
