Always enjoyed sports when I was younger, but got really serious about working out after I recovered from prolonged hospitalization and corticosteroids due to Crohn's disease that was diagnosed during my junior year of high school.
Why I Love It:
I learned from my ongoing experience with Crohn's and from listening closely to my body that being healthy and exercising really does make a huge difference in my psychological state, mental state for studying, emotional state, and overall well-being. It gives me the confidence, energy and focus that I need to accomplish my goals.
How I Stay Motivated:
My main motivational tools are fitness magazines or bodybuilding.com articles which I use to get new ideas for workouts or exercises, my girlfriend who helps keep me on track with my diet and who appreciates it when I'm in shape, and my energy levels and moods which always dip when I start skipping workouts or eating badly.
BB Accomplishments:
My only major accomplishment as of now is recovering from Crohn's and maintaining remission since 2004 through working out and diet.

I was hospitalized at 16 due to Crohn's disease and weighed in at less than 110lbs at 5'9" tall. Having Crohn's forced me to learn how to take care of myself, but it was over 2 years before I was even healthy enough to start working out again.
Gain 10-15lbs of muscle while staying under 12%bf.
Goal (Long):
After getting myself down to 7-8%bf over the summer I decided to put on some more muscle so by next summer I can be at my goal of 185lbs and 7-8%bf. Although I'm willing to put on a bit of bf in order to gain the muscle, I am determined to stay below 12%. I'm going to miss the abs and cuts, but they'll be back next summer!
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Don't allow instant gratification to push you into doing too much too fast. I know too many people who work out for 2-3 hours because they want fast results when they start and all they end up doing is burning themselves out quickly or injuring themselves from overtraining. Realize that being healthy and fit is a long-term goal and pace yourself. I guarantee you that long term persistence and working up to your goal methodically rather than as quickly as possible will give you better results and much more long-term satisfaction.Don't allow instant gratification to push you into doing too much too fast. What tips would you give to others to help them stay motivated over the long-term?
Don't Be A Perfectionist! Its good to be precise with your workouts and diet, but life is full of mishaps and imperfections. If you get too caught up in doing everything the right way, you will either end up isolated from everyone but have a great physique or you will end up giving up because you can't keep up the perfection. The key is BALANCE! Health is all about balance. That means a cheat day or a day off because of an emergency is OK as long as the next day you jump back in where you left off. Don't get stuck in the mess-ups, just keep plugging along and you WILL see the results you are striving for!Don't Be A Perfectionist! What would you say if I told you that 50% + 50% doesn't actually equal 100%?
You'd probably say I'm crazy!
But wait a second. Before you write me off as being stupid, let me explain. In math class, 50 + 50 = 100. In "real life" though, that's not necessarily true. In fact, I've...
