A few reasons.. It started as a physical therapy/medical thing. I was depressed all the time becuase of chronic pain in my back and right arm. My right elbow and wrist are just short of destroyed due to several pointless surgeries to repair a very minor fracture.. long story...I also have a degenerative spinal condition (i'm falling apart) haha. I started going to the gym just to strengthen my back and abs to help manage the chronic pain. Also wanted to lose some fat while I was there.. Then I just got hooked i guess! Mostly I wanted to rise above the pain and take action toward getting a better body.
Why I Love It:
Like everyone i'm sure, i love the feeling you get after a good workout, the pump, and eventually seeing results! For me, its also a great natural pain killer.. Well, at least it's a different kind of pain - takes my mind off the chronic pain for a while.
How I Stay Motivated:
I always want to improve on something or learn something new. The bodybuilding community has helped a lot..
BB Accomplishments:
almost cut my body fat in half, started eating healthier and less worthless calories. built a little muscle

Taken about a week into it, decided to get some before pictures. glad i did
still tryin to lean out a little bit, but i've added some size
I started at 172, lost about 10 lbs (mostly fat) and gained a little bit of muscle in the last 9 months. I want to take it to the next level and get some bigger gains. I haven't tracked my progress very well, so far, but that's going to change.
What type of injury was it? How long were you injured? How did you recover?
shoulder, decline dumbell press.. too heavy and my spotter didnt catch it in time. felt a pop and was out for a couple months, still not fully healed though.. best recovery was from not doing ANYTHING to aggrivate it, full rest.. cardio, legs and abs kept me busy for a while shoulder, decline dumbell press.. too heavy and my spotter didnt catch it in time. felt a pop and was out for a couple months, still not fully healed though.. best recovery was from not doing ANYTHING...more

What is the most common reason that somebody gets injured while lifting?
im gonna call this day 30 becuase i lost track a little bit, i've still been working out almost every day. today i killed my biceps and abs. Over the weekend i celebrated my 26th birthday, and it was a bittersweet entrance into my "late" 20's i feel like i am in good shape, but...
My routine is a work in progress! I tweak it based on my current goals and areas that need work. I just keep reading articles and learning new exercises to keep it fresh! I'm kind of a newbie, so feel free to give me comments and suggestions that might work better! I bring a pencil/paper to...
awesome what you're doing for yourself. my training started from a similar cause, a fracture on left elbow, then arthritis, and depression from not being able to do anything so i feel ya. but it took that, to come to this- a healthier conscious lifestyle. you, keep on with the amazing transformation!!
You'd already done a solid transformation and I'm sure with your dedication shown already, once you're back you'll be even bigger and better. Best of luck with both the training and health. Andre
