I am just starting out. I am coming off of a ketogenic diet that was medically supervised and had B6/12 injections and am tired of being fatigued and putting so much pressure on myself when really I was not getting the body fat % down where it should be and want to be able to increase my metabolism so I don't have to rely on ketosis solely to lose weight. The program I was on was $160/week but my benefits paid for it. Saying goodbye to this particular plan is scary because I'm kind of lost on what to eat that won't cause weight gain and not sure what the best way to start gaining muscle would be. I would love to be a figure model/athlete or at least be in that shape to do so! I would imagine that's a long, long way off and I can't afford personal trainers.
Why I Love It:
[updated Oct.25] I like the feeling of having achieved a goal for the day and putting myself one step farther from my old habits. I like the stress relief I have learned to gain from it and the feeling of empowerment as all of the unreachable goals seem reachable when you're working hard.
How I Stay Motivated:
[updated Oct.25] I am keeping motivated by all of the clothing I can fit into and that since waving goodbye for good to the old way of managing my weight, I have been able to keep it off in learning a whole new lifestyle.
As well, I am always trying to freshen up my iPod music videos and track selection so that I don't get bored of what I listen to or watch.
BB Accomplishments:
[updated Oct.25] my major accomplishments so far is that I have developed fantastic biceps and definition in the upper body that I've never had. Even more importantly is that I've pulled myself through a tough time emotionally with a new goal for my body other than to "some day have kids".
This was taken when I was 29yrs old and weighing 231lbs. Looking back, I realize how big I was. At that weight, I was in a lot of foot pain. I remember having red welts between my legs when I went walking around Nassau downtown and my legs were chafing badly.
Short Term Goal: Lookin' hot in my blue sequined dress for New Year's with my bffl's!
Goal (Long):
I would absolutely love to be able to compete as a figure athlete, but to start out with I need to build some muscle to overcome a very slowed down metabolism through years of yo-yo dieting.
I really wish I could find a coach or personal trainer to help me understand how to achieve these goals the quickest (less trial and error).
I've always been chubby and overweight through puberty, teens and much of adulthood so far. I have managed to drop 86lbs and really want to put the "fat girl" behind me.
One of my concerns is whether or not my waving arms and skin wrinkles around the tummy where I used to be heavier will go away on the journey I have begun. I can see that it is possible to tighten everything up no matter what.
Alright, it's time to get consistent with a plan. I think the amount of information on the internet on different theories and ways to build muscle, lose fat and stimulate fast twitch vs. slow twitch muscles and being catabolic and/or hypertrophic is a large volume of information to try and...
