As a freshman, I was offered a free physical at the campus Wellness Center. I was content with my body going in, then the tech told me I weighed 162 lbs and my bodyfat was 31%! I was immediately motivated to get healthier.
Why I Love It:
It's when I feel most healthy, capable, and sexy.
How I Stay Motivated:
I remember that I do this for ME, that it costs nothing, and I never regret it. I stay connected on Bodyspace and find images of strong women to motivate me. I also recharge my batteries by spending time with my awesome HUSBAND.
BB Accomplishments:
Competing in 2010 at the NPC Upper Midwest Championships!

Pursegloveupdated Fit Status "Thanksgiving was great - I ate a brownie and ice cream!"
Long-term: Become a health professional and help others. Short-term: Compete in the 2010 Upper Midwest Championships!
Goal (Long):
Since starting college back in 2003, I have been pursuing fitness as a hobby. I should've realized it then - when it was work to go to class and bliss to go to the gym - that fitness is my true calling.
I have been envisioning a career in wellness since then, and perfecting my physique to be a role model for those who want to transform their lives through fitness. Since embarking on my healthy lifestyle, I have lost nearly 40 lbs and have created a strong foundation for competition.
I withdrew from college and I am working on changing majors to Corporate Fitness. I have been feeding my brain with anything I can get my hands on regarding nutrition, training, natural health care, and being kind to mother earth. I feel I am finally ready to incorporate my knowledge in all of these aspects to become on the outside who I am on the inside. It's amazing to watch my body change and progress towards my dream.
I have a couple of mottos I live by; one is "Tough it out!" It reminds me that I am stronger than situations and that I control how I react to them and overcome them. The other is "It's a marathon, not a sprint." It reminds me that while competing is a huge dream of mine, it is just a pit stop on my marathon, not the finish line. My ultimate goal is a career in fitness as a Wellness Coach, and competing will give me more insight into that world and give me a push in the right direction.
I'm going to compete for the first time in March 2010 at the NPC Upper Midwest Championships! =)
I read your debut article in Oxygen this month. I was already a fan (and a myspace friend, haha) but after reading that I feel even more strongly - you are my #1 fitness role model! You took a thoughtful and practical approach to changing your lifestyle and your career, and truly I admire that. Your physique is the perfect blend of pretty and strong, you are a beautiful human being.
I like doing concentration curls on a 60cm ball. It helps me maintain good form and incorporate my core muscles at the same time.

What tricep workout has worked best for you?
I like combining a tricep kickback with my bent over row on my back day. You really have to fight gravity! Then on arms day, I do standing overhead extensions and scull crushers on the ball (for an added balance challenge).I like combining a tricep kickback with my bent over row on my back day. What calf workout has worked best for you?
I do calf raises by holding a dumbell with both hands - I then use the 60cm ball between my chest and a wall and raise up onto my toes. I like to isolate each calf by doing one leg at a time. This also adds a balance challenge.I do calf raises by holding a dumbell with both hands - I then use the 60cm ball between my chest and a wall and raise up onto my toes. Last night I was looking at some old vacation pics and I found a good "before" picture of my face. It's crazy what exercise and eating right can do for your looks! Just see for yourself...
I’ve been in The Lab this weekend creating my diet+exercise plan. My home gym (AKA "The Lab") is complete with a treadmill, Weider Bench incl. leg attachment, various dumbells, barbell, Thighmaster, Perfect Pushups, resistance bands, jump rope, weighted hula hoop, and a DVD...
