When I Started:
Mar, 1999
How I Started:
Towards the end of the eigth grade I bought a Flex magazine and I saw a feature of Tom Prince's first workout program. I used it and developed my own programs from there. Being a pro wrestling fan all my life, I new I needed to get started early with developing a muscular look for when I decide to throw myself into wrestling instead of jumping to steroids and becoming another pro wrestling statistic.
So watching wrestling, seeing results, and wanting to look bigger than average appealed to me.
Now I train @ Gleason's Gym for Pro wrestling while working.
Why I Love It:
I love the feeling of getting in the gym and feeling my muscles scream for more. The pump itself is addicting. I love being able to control how I look and change the way I feel. Plus, the peace it brings. No one else and nothing else matters in that small time frame.
How I Stay Motivated:
By watching a lot of pro wrestling and reading a lot of bodybuilding magazines/books.
BB Accomplishments:
-Winning the Novice Heavyweight category at the INBF NaturalMania 2008 in NYC, my first ever competition (Juan Almenas).
-Gaining 1/2 inch on my arms in a month using NO-Xplode (2004).
-Deadlifting 5 plates (45 lbs each) on each side (2006) - you do the math.
-Gaining 15 lbs in 2 weeks by adding ON: Serious Mass weight gainer and Universal: Natural Sterol Complex to by basic whey and creatine program (May 2005).
-Getting a WWE tryout in Feb. 2006 solely based on my appearance.
My goal is to grow to be about 240 lbs at no more than 12% body fat by 2010.
I also want to still be able to do all the athletic moves I can do like back hand springs and somersaults that I do now, while being at that weight. This will make me more marketable in the pro wrestling business in the future.
I also want to tighten up my biggest problem area, my abdomen (especially the obliques!).
I've realized the reason I was so tighter there when I was 15 (see the pic) is because I used to do so much cardio. I did roughly 30 minutes of jump rope most days of the week. Now I'm doing tons of cardio work again and I've added a day concentrated on abs followed by cardio, with 3 days consisting of some ab work overall. As far as strength, I only focus on the MAIN 3: barbell bench press (flat bench), barbell squats, and deadlifts (with a barbell of course) when maxing out. I give myself 2-3 years for this goal.
