16 weeks ago I set out to see if I could change my body from an Ironman triathlete to a fitness competitor. Guess what, I did! It was a great learning experience and I enjoyed all the ups and downs. It has made me a better individual and I also have so much respect for anyone who attempts...
I do have a full wetsuit and I sure needed it. Wetsuits are required for that race; being from Canada, you probably understand why. Glacier fed lakes are just ... cold! Anyway - thanks so much for your encouragement. It means a lot to me.
We had a super time. Conditions were tough, but we still really loved it. I was slow - ran a very conservative race because I was worried about whether or not I could make it through. Ended with way too much left over. Next time, I'll step it up a bit! Next event will be more "normal" - this one was Redfish Lake, which is really, really cold. Lots of folks got pulled from the lake because they couldn't make it. It's a tough one - with a high alpine lake.
I am only doing sprint distances. Finished my first last weekend and I have my next in about 8 weeks. I am super excited for the next one and really would like to improve at least a little.
Not sure if strength workouts are the right thing to be doing right now... ???
Hi, PP! If you have a moment, I've got a quick question for you re: strength/ resistance training program for tri training... details are posted on my blog... but, basically, wondering: how much, how often - how many days in between! Hope you're doing well!
