I had been eating healthy but not losing weight and decided to start exercising to see if there was a significant difference. Guess what? There was!
Why I Love It:
I love exercising because: (1) it helps burn calories and lose weight and (2) its good for ya!
How I Stay Motivated:
That's my problem. Mentally, I'm motivated. But after a mentally stressful day at work, sometimes I'm just drained and cannot physically make myself hit the treadmill. Now that I've started this page, I'm committed to getting back on track!
BB Accomplishments:
I started on the treadmill with 30-45 minute walks (a little over 1.5 miles) and worked my way up to 60 minute walks (3 miles). Once I get back on the treadmill, I hope to increase this even more!
I'm getting back on track...I can do anything if I set my mind to it!
Goal (Long):
I am usually a healthy eater, so food is not a big part of my challenge with losing weight. What I need to do is find more time for exercise. I started doing both (eating healthier and exercising) in May 2008 and lost 14 pounds within 2 month, mostly because I haven't been exercising as much as I should.
The bad news? I've hit this plateau I can't seem to break through. The good news is...I have not gained any of the weight back, so I know if I get back on track, I can lose more weight. So far, I went from a Size 16 to "almost" a Size 12 (14 is too lose, 12 is a little snug).
I started at 186 (YIKES!) and am now at 172. I hope to lose at least another 25-30 pounds, ideally in 2 months. It's not so important that I lose it in 2 months as it is that I do it in a healthy and natural way (eating and lifestyle changes).
I'll work with my hubby (JENIUS) to get some pics up soon and will provide updates as they happen. Now that I've posted this for all of you to read, I REALLY need to keep with it now!
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 25 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
20%

What is your favorite cardiovascular exercise? Why?
My favorite cardio exercise has to be pumping the treadmill up to 3.5 or 4 mpg with an incline fo 3.0 because I can watch TV and be distracted from how long I've been on the treadmill. :)

What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Take things one day at a time; don't try to do too much at once. After all, "Rome wasn't built in a day..." Right?

What type of nutrition plan are you currently following? Give full details.
I've been following the "Fat Smash Plan" outlined by Dr. Ian Smith (Celebrity Fit Club) in his book "Fat Smash Diet." There are 4 phases to the plan where you start with nothing but fruits and veggies for 9 days, then you start adding in healthy foods, little by little, to build healthier eating habits rather than a "diet," so-to-speak. The $12 I paid for the book has been well worth the month, and I highly recommend it!I've been following the "Fat Smash Plan" outlined by Dr. Ian Smith (Celebrity Fit Club) in his book "Fat Smash Diet." Hello! I started with eating and exercise lifestyle changes on May 18, 2008, and managed to lose 14 pounds within 2 months. Unfortunately, things were very hectic at work and I was mentally exhausted by the end of the day. As a result, I was drained and just wanted to "crash" when I...
Thank you for the addition to your friends. Plateaus came be discouraging but what I found the most helpful was taking my measurements as opposed to the scale. You will see changes faster by not looking at the scale as you may lose inches and not so much weight. That is what happened for me. Remember that success in fitness is diet, cardio and weightlifting. Keep on working hard!
If you wish to overcome your plateau I suggest you check out the 12 week Body for Life program. It has an excellent nutrition plan along with both weightlifting and cardio routines. My wife (bodyspace: judimax) went from a size 12/14 to a 4/6 and I lost over 50 lbs going from 36 to 10% bodyfat in just 12 short weeks. We were both amazed at the results and you may be too. Let us know if you would like more info.
