Overall Goal: Finish Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010 in under 3 hours.
Fit Status:
I am in the best shape of my adult life right now, having lost signficant weight and bodyfat and set personal bests in all running distances
Finish Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010 in under 3 hours.
Goal (Long):
2009 has been a successful year. I achieved PRs in all running distances, including 19:22 in the 5K and 1:29:54 in the half marathon. I'm still going to try to beat 40 minutes in a 10K on Thanksgiving.
My big goal now is my most audacious yet: Finish the Boston Marathon on April 19, 2010 in under 3 hours. To do it I plan to increase my weekly mileage to as much as 55 mpw, lose 10 pounds over the early phase of my training, and incorporate regular quality training runs. I also plan to do modest strength training and stretching to protect myself better against possible injury. By January I plan to reduce by bodyfat to around 12 percent and my waist to around 33 inches.
Beyond Boston my goals are to continue to improve my running as well as my overall fitness.
Weight Goal:
I want to LOSE 10 lb
Bodyfat Goal:
12%
Upcoming Contest:
Boston Marathon

What type of nutrition plan are you currently following? Give full details.
1) Plenty of protein through chicken, fish, nuts, whey powder, eggs. Try to get some protein with each meal.
2) Little to no soda, candy, chips, french fries, fast food, sugary foods.
3) I drink water, skim or 1% milk, wine, some spirits (gin, tequila, bourbon). That's about it. No soda, almost no fruit juice, beer only rarely.
4) Eat 5 times a day or so, trying to keep meals smaller.
5) Try to maximize quantity and variety of vegetables and fruits.
6) I don't get fussy about protein/fat/carbohydrate percentages. I focus on eating good, whole food as opposed to processed food.
7) I think a little fat is a good thing.
8) I love carbs. I just try to focus on good, whole-food carbs as opposed to junk, processed carbs. I love pasta and bread and have to be careful there.1) Plenty of protein through chicken, fish, nuts, whey powder, eggs. Try to get some protein with each meal.
2) Little to no soda, candy, chips, french fries, fast food, sugary foods.
3) I drink water...more

I decided not to run the December marathon here in Sacramento, because my mileage is not quite where it should be, and decided instead to set a longer term and more audacious goal: run the Boston Marathon in April 2010 and finish it in under 3 hours. That will be very hard to do. I completed...
The only thing that is keeping me busy these days is working 6-7 days per week and scratching out my workouts when I can. Thankfully, I have a 2 day weekend and I'll be spending it all at the gym of the rink!

I read your blog and I admire your goals. They are alot like mine. I have not signed up for Boston yet. I'm waiting to see when my shoulder will let me train to my max. I've been doing 3 mile runs in a sling for 2 weeks now (awkward) but it is something.I hope to finish Boston at around 3:30 or better.
Thanks so very much. I am very impressed with your accomplishments. I will definately be watching. Let me know your chip number so I can track you. I was a runner for 30 years and did a marathon in 02. Keep me posted on your training. Terri

Our season is done. Calling for snow flurries Thurs. Too early for me. Looks like the next thing for me is the Winnipeg Police Service Run the first Sunday in May. There is the Frosty Half (in Feb. I think), but I don't run outside in the snow. W
That's awesome to hear - there's this guy that runs around the lake with your physique and he always reminds me of you :) Doing well - finally hit 10 miles the other day - it was awesome!! If I can remain injury-free after my half in Oct., I think I'm gonna go for a full in Jan. :)
Hope you're running again and that all is healed up! Been running every other day which is good for the pixi soul! :) What are your races lined up for 2010?
