Background

When I Started: Sep 2001
HOW I STARTED:

My husband had been diagnoised with RA. He had done research and learned that weightbearing exersice was a good thing to do. He came home with Bill Phillips BFL book. Sitting there, putting loads of butter on my French Bread, I took a look at it. Somthing clicked and I asked him if I could join him in working out. I have not stopped working out since.

WHY I LOVE IT:

I was never an athelete in school. I was very shy and would not go out for anything. I was always thin and active. So, weight lifting brought out something in me that I did not know I had. I love the feel of the burn and knowing I am being good to my body. I was given a healthy body, I feel obligated to treat it well.

My husband is amazing. He always lifts me up and is very honest with me. Also, all the people on Bodybuilding.com are wonderful. Finally, my daughter. I really want to set a good example for her. We are the oldest parents in her class and in the best shape. I can tell she is proud of her parents.

Yesterday morning I ran 6 miles in 1 hour 6 mins. It has been more than a year since I have been physically able to do this. Happy day!

Changing Plans

I have been doing Jamie Eason's Live Fit workout program for almost 12 weeks.  I believe it to be a very good program.  It has challanged me and kept my interest because there are new exercises introduced frequently.  The 3rd Phase is difficult and not for the faint of heart.  I like that.  I don't do easy in my life.  If it not a challange I wonder if I'm doing something wrong.  Life is not suppose to be easy.  However, having said that I also realize that there is a difference between challanging myself and over training and de-railing workouts comp

I like to run and lift weights.  I actually, I love to run and lift weights.  However, somedays I love running less than other days.  I run in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont.  That means there are hills I have to go up.  There are also mountains I have to go up.  Some days I do better than others.  I can tell how I am doing by how I feel when I come to a hill (mountain) by whether or not I start telling myself "You can run to that crack in the road."  When I make it to that particular crack I tell myself "You can make it to that rock by...

 Since last December I have had a lot of intestnal problems.  I have had doctors asking me the same questions over and over again.  I have had too many tests to mention.  I have gone to 4 different doctors.  Finally I was told I have IBS.  What that suggests is that they don't know what is wrong with me.  I did an elimination diet under the care of a Naturopathic doctor.  The result was that I have an intolerance to soy.  It seems that I probably have an intolerance to all legumes.  What I have learned is that almost all processed foods have

RitaTrue As for me, it's been 50/50. My friends are supportive, except for one. She's a little odd about it. For instance, she makes unusual remarks about it. But then she'll ask me to take with me when I workout. It's odd things like that. I'll know I'm in business when my FAMILY notices. My family can't hold water.
