When I Started:
Sep, 2005
How I Started:
Have always been active in sports and weight lifting was always a small part of that. As I have grown older lifting has taken more of a center stage role.
Why I Love It:
It's a great stress reliever for my high stress life, plus I love the feeling I get while doing it and watching my body change over time.
How I Stay Motivated:
Staying fit, active and athletic as I get older. Seeing the changes in the mirror as I look better. Plus I really enjoy crushing the 20 somethings in the gym and on the field or court:) Having my gorgeous wife tell me I'm hot doesn't hurt at all either.
BB Accomplishments:
Looking better in my 40s than I did in my 30s. Having the 20 something males tell me they wish they looked and played like I do.

This was one year ago when I had just summitted Mt. Rainier. Nice burn line huh?
Now my climbing is done for this season. My next endeavor is a 10 day, 100 mile backpacking trip with my son. We are doing the Wonderland Trail together as part of his "Year of Adventure."
Goal (Long):
I want to take good care of myself. I want to have a lean, muscular, attractive body for my wife. I desire a continued level of athleticism that enables me to enjoy all the physical activities I love: Volleyball, Basketball, Scuba Diving, Mountain Climbing, etc.. I want to be able to continue doing all of the above at a high level into my 50s
I started doing CrossFit at the beginning of April and will never go back to a regular lifting routine. I now wait for the WOD on Crossfit.com and am building elite FUNCTIONAL FITNESS. I don't want to just look good physically, I want to BE GOOD ATHLETICALLY!
No doubt - I was a police officer in a former life (12 years) and saw many broken homes and bad situations. At the root of all those issues was typically a very bad home life and bad family relations. Much like your counselling, it certainly reminds you how fragile things can be and to make the efforts up front to try and solidify a child's upbringing in a positive fashion and make them a good, socially responsible person in the process.
I don't know if I am winning awards, but I do what I can ;-) Think I'll take a page from your book and look into that hiking idea when they are a bit older - what a great bonding experience. Have a great day!!!
Thx..funny, but living here you actually get tired of the heat...really miss the change in seasons too - just the same all time here - HOT. After a few months of living here the 'honeymoon' phase wears off and it is just another place you live and work. Freinds back home often don't understand that one though and get mad at me when I say that ;-) Two boys; 5 and 1 1/2 .....they keep me busy!!
Ya, work brought me down - from the Toronto area originally. It has been a good few years for us and mostly a good experience. A small island is not the place I want to live my entire life though - pretty limited in many ways. It has been good for my kids too, but I want them growing up with their family around, not just visiting them once a year.
Sounds awesome...........been in Cayman for 4 quick years.............likey do one more and then head back to Canada......time to get back to family and friends.....
hey, i was trying to be as gentle as i could in my ridicule ;) GO PM! GO PM! GO PM! GO! =) kill that WOD! OWN it! channel the BIG T and get after it! you are NOT a pastor.. you are an ANIMAL! ;)
Just got back from doing the squat WOD at the affiliate and then I got on the rower machine while Landon finished his MMA class. It was a BLAST!!! Much more fun than SDHP's!
i'm in the middle of day 1 with JP's new diet.. i really thought that i'd be WAY hungrier than i am! tho i am not used to this cooler being at my side! haha.. and the plyo workout.. let's just say, that JT saw me doing it and sent me a text "when i have this baby, you are running me thru that workout!" the grasshoppa becomes the master =)
are those numbers the weight???? ;) i ran and did p90x chest/back and about to do abs..plus fitness (only did the demo's.. let THEM do the sprints) with the college teams this morning =) now i'm working on 2moro's plyo training =)
i learned that lesson pretty early. i was about 9 years old getting my physical for summer church camp.. painful memory =( but i finally am ok with it! so enjoying this phenomenol NW weather?? freakin' AMAZING! =)
