When I Started:
Apr, 2008
How I Started:
My fascination to cut weight for martial arts via running 12 miles a day and adjusting my diet weekly resulted in 2.3% BF in 6 weeks. Loved being ripped / hated being as skinny as Bruce Lee at 5'11 and 135 lbs. After that cut, I punked out for 2 years, didnt train, kicked it in my office at work (totally sedentary) and got up to 205 lbs with 30% BF! That ended late March '08 when I decided enough was enough and went on a 16 week cut (trained 30% weight lifting, 70% fitness/body weight moves/plyo/very active cardio 6 days a week, never skipped a wo or cheated my diet). Now its the end of the 16 week cut and I weigh 160 lbs around 10% BF. I still need to cut to about 7-8% BF, but Ive changed my training mode to straight up body building (with moderate cardio)for the next 16 weeks on a lean mass cycle starting 28-JUL-08.
Why I Love It:
Relieves stress, keeps me from freaking out on myself and others. Ended conversations dealing with the "I used to be in great shape" premise. Im also not embarassed about being a fat slob anymore.
How I Stay Motivated:
Primarily: Results. Secondary: I dont want to be a fat slob anymore (see "why I love Bodybuilding/working out").
BB Accomplishments:
Im close to not being a fat slob.
