When I Started:
Aug, 2004
How I Started:
With the help of a 23 yr old trainer at LA FITNESS in Metro Atlanta. I was 330 pounds and 42% bodyfat when I started LIFTING. Got down to 240 and 15% bodyfat. Now due to back to back surgeries I'm back up and need to get my weight and bf back down and keep them down.
Why I Love It:
I've had a host of health problems due to my obesity and lazy life style. The much healthier lifestyle that lifting and cardio and proper nutrition gave me not only helped save my life but its given me a sense of a new beginning and purpose. I love when someone compliments changes they see or how strong I am for an "old man".
How I Stay Motivated:
Looking at the old "FATMAN" photos of myself and how miserable I was. Unless you've ever been that heavy, you can't imagine what it's like and what a "trap" it is.
BB Accomplishments:
LOSING over 25% bodyfat in 15 months and toning up by age 42 like I did.
To get back what I lost. I feel like a much smaller version of what is going on in this country. That I had reached something truly great and let it slip away with apathy and complacency. Now I want to get serious before its too late and finally get
Goal (Long):
10 to 12% bodyfat long term, more lean muscular look, staying at that healthy look for the remainder of my life. Eating right and in the right portions for the remainder of my life. Being POSITIVE and healthy, most of all HAPPY to make up for the many lost years I was not. To ENCOURAGE others NEEDING that positive reinforcement like so many who encouraged me to get this far.
Happy Thanksgiving, big guy! Hope you had some fun with your mom. I got a terrible connection w/ my cell in NY. I made it safe and sound and I'm typing this from my hotel in SC on my way back. Talk to you soon!
