To have a balance between built and shredded. I know in my mind what I am underneath this temporary fat suit that I am wearing. Bodyweight in the high 160's to low 180's with my bodyfat in the single digits.
Goal (Long):
I was the original skinny teenager with such a high metabolism I thought I'd stay skinny forever..even though I could eat a 14 inch pizza by myself and still have room for dinner a few hours later!
Unfortunately between 21 and 26, the weight crept on quietly and I didn't realize it until I was noticably overfat.
I didn't have a good concept of "drive" so I let myself slide until now at 42, where I am just re-discovering the athlete inside me.
I find it hard to have a numerical goal, but want to be shredded and built relative to my age.
His before stats are hitting me just a little too close to home. I can identify with his before comments. Getting down to 10% bodyfat seems like an unbelievable dream, but if he can do it, there's no legitimate reason why I can't.
How can a man who is 5 years younger than me and weighs roughly the same do a 180 degree u-turn and become shredded in 3 months? Inspirational doesn't even BEGIN to describe him. Shattering my preceptions, is more appropriate.
What is the one tip you would give somebody who is just getting started?
Take your preconcieved "limits" of what you can lift and throw them out the window. The body is capable of amazing things if the mind and heart just allow it..it doesn't mean that it's easy, just possible - if you do it safely and don't injure yourself!Take your preconcieved "limits" of what you can lift and throw them out the window. What mistakes did you make when you first started working out?
Not realizing the difference between just moving weight and how much I could move if I put my mind to it..I would have seen progress within weeks when I started dabbling as a teen, instead of pushing it aside for two decades.
BUT, I know now and that's what matters! Not realizing the difference between just moving weight and how much I could move if I put my mind to it..I would have seen progress within weeks when I started dabbling as a teen, instead of pushing ...more
This has been the first major binge..hopefully the only one..off of the diet.
I should have known that going shopping on an empty stomach could lead to trouble. It lead directly to the 9 pieces of deep fried chicken and poutine (french fries with gravy and cheese curds). Unfortunately, that...
I just stopped by to wish you nothing but success as you work towards your fitness goal. Too many people think it can’t be done and so they don't even try but I believe that you will prove that with hard work and dedication it can be. I look forward to watching your progress. If there is ever anything that I can do to be of assistance feel free to give me a yell. Believe & achieve!
just checking in with you! Last time i spoke to you was after the aniversary of your friends death! Hope you are doing well! Keep pushing and keep your head up :)
Well stick with it and long term things will change! Lift, get some cardio in, and eat healthy(very easy on the cheating..lol) and things will slowly morph to a healthier you!
I eat the same diet. 40% protein, 40%carbs, and 20%fat. I also eat only about 1800 calories a day when I am trying to lose weight. Then I will exercise on top of that to burn of some extra calories. When I follow that formula and eat it over 5 meals throughout the day....my fat falls right off!
Steve, thanks for stopping by and the add! Most important thing is to be consistent. Once you have a pattern of diet and training down everything will fall in place.
Haha, it's like I was telling someone tonight: you've just gotta set your own goals and do your own thing. Some people wanna gain, others wanna lose, and it's all good as long as you stay motivated and do it the right way!
no problem, it was a tough journey, but fun as hell. watching yourself transform to the look you desire is an amazing experience. keep it up you're the man
Honored to have you as a friend Steve... I love your goals and way of thinking.... eat right and train consistently and your body will have no choice but react exactly the way you want it to:) It will be fun to watch you reach your goals!!
