When I Started:
Jan, 1999
How I Started:
I was in the military and after sitting in a classroom for training for over a year and eating like crap, I was REALLY out of shape 5'5 and 175lbs. By the time I got to my next base, I took a good look at myself and finally admitted that I'd gotten fat.
I asked someone to show me around the gym and lost over 40 lbs by switching to diet sodas, giving up the daily fast food and eating tons of chicken breasts and protein shakes and running and lifting EVERY day for 3 months.
I gave it up for a few years and gained about 15 lbs back. I'd like to lose the extra baggage again but it's about 10 years later and quite a bit harder than the first time.
Why I Love It:
I like the feeling of not being able to move the next day. I can't explain it but it's a feeling of accomplishment.
How I Stay Motivated:
I strategically placed everything right behind my recliner so I have to see it every time I go to sit down and watch TV. I can do a set of any exercise whenever I get tired of sitting there. I dont think of it as working out. I get bored I do 3 sets of squats... watch tv for a bit.. read online... then go back like 30 minutes later and do some lunges. Commercial comes up, I do some pull ups. Workouts take like 2 hrs... but it's all time I would have been in the recliner anyways.
