I loved reading the superhero comic books as a kid and admired the muscular physiques. I started bodybuilding at 14 years old after getting a 110 pound weight set for Christmas. Once I saw how great the bodybuilders looked in the magazines, I made up my mind that I wanted to be a bodybuilder and eventually win the Mr. Universe title.
Why I Love It:
I love the idea of creating my own physique through my workouts and diet. It feels great to have a muscular physique that is so different than 99% of the rest of the population. Working out with heavy weights and focused concentration gives me a feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction that I don't feel in any other area in life. I will always be a bodybuilder!
How I Stay Motivated:
I write down every workout I do and always try to do better than I did the last workout. Each year, I pick a period of time (usually 3-4 months) when I will diet down and get really ripped and in great shape. Sometimes I do it for a guest posing, other times it is for a photo shoot. This motivates me to train very hard and eat right in order to achieve peak condition.
BB Accomplishments:
I won the first Natural Olympia competition in 1998 in Greece, I also won the Natural Mr. Universe contest twice - in 1992 and 1996. Other titles include the Natural North America, the Natural America's Cup, the Natural Illinois, the NPC Illinois State, the NPC Mid-America. I wrote a book called "Natural Bodybuilding" (Human Kinetics, 2005) and have two DVD's "Real Muscle" and "Natural Bodybuilding Seminar and Competitions". I promote 2 bodybuilding shows each year and I have a website at www.naturalolympia.com.

John - I'm sure you are busy - but I shot you an e-mail about coming out to your gym to get the consultation you mentioned. Let me know when works for you. I'm excited to get an HONEST assesment, and to get on track with your help. Chris Wells has said nothing but great things about all the help you gave him.
I would really like more info. I am going to be stepping back on stage next year after a ten year layoff. As i get ready will be posting more pics here love your feedback. Is there a qualification for the Natural O?

Hey John, I need to put more size on again and I am trying to figure out whether I should train my body parts once or twice a week. I am afraid that being natural twice a week would be too much. What do you think??
