yes, do lighter weight for the 15 plus rep range. You want to condition your upper body, and perform lower body lifts like Power Cleans, and Plyometrics... I actually play ball as well and I hang with some college players here at my college SOSU. It won't mess you up, just be a gym rat and practice hard!
Thanks for the add...yeah man I am supposed to be able to dunk by the end of the summer too...that was the goal I set for myself, but too many other things in the way of my leg training right now although I still hit the squats, lunges, and deadlifts hard...I haven't been able to do the plyometric exercises regularly! I have a really good adobe document that explains exercises and details of how to increase your vert if you want...send me your e-mail addy!!
