At age 37 I was recently divorced and approaching my 40th birthday. I felt fat and out of shape. I started dating a girl (who later became my wife) who worked out regularly. She was missing workouts because we were dating so she dragged me to the gym with her... I've never looked back.
Why I Love It:
It is a great stress reliever after a hard days work. I can let loose my frustrations in the gym. I also like watching my body change as I bulk up or diet down, and I like accomplishing goals I've set for myself.
How I Stay Motivated:
Setting realistic goals and reaching them! Although I am retired from the bodybuilding scene I still workout 5-6 per week to maintain my physique I have worked so hard to build. My new goals in life are to stay in shape year around and perhaps pursue some modeling opportunities to showcase my physique and also learn more about photography which is my new hobby and passion in life.
BB Accomplishments:
I've accomplished more than I ever thought I would do. Besides several state bodybuilding weight class titles I have won 4 NPC National Weight Class Titles in 4 different Weight Classes ALL with perfect scores! My photograph has appeared in numerous bodybuilding magazines including Flex, Muscle Mag, and Ironman.

nice man! well after a month of aggressive therapy, the pinched nerve wasnt a prob. but of course, strain this or that and joints take a toll but its part of the biz. im great as well as fam. hope you're fam is well too.
Your a star and didnt even know it. What happened to your neck? I have a calf muscle tear, that Im trying to overcome. I did it in Oct. I havent worked out legs in 7 wks. not liking the set back.
You look freakin' amazing. You have the body that so many men, mostly younger, dream of having but are not willing to put the work into developing. You have shown tremendous drive & determination and are a fantastic inspiration to so many others. Stay strong, focused and determined. Some people use age as a convenient excuse. 'I'm to old too start, or, 'I could never do that at my age.' Other people, though, go on to achieve their greatest accomplishments in life in their later years.
oh yeah man, surfing is tough when u first start. i remember paddling out abd being so tired that i almost just wanted to give up and paddle back in. but nah its gets easier and easier when u keep going.
Thanks for the feedback Randy. You are an incredible bodybuilder that has accomplished so much. I got a late start, but I'm really enjoying the journey and will continue to train hard & eat healthy. Spring 2010 will be my next comp. Thanks again.
Randy, impressive physique. You are one for the ages...
Tell me your secret, you still seem to be adding size even in your fifties. Tell me how... I'm trying, & it's coming, but VERY slowly.
