I had bulimia in high school and was trying to find a way to get better when I came across an issue of Oxygen magazine. I had lifted some light weights before, but this magazine really encouraged me to lift heavier and to start eating better. I obtained great results when it came to muscle mass and gradually stopped engaging in bulimic behaviours. I have been fairly consistent for the 5 years since. The longest I've ever been out of the gym was about 2 months.
Why I Love It:
It makes me feel accomplished, makes my body healthier, and helps me with everyday life by making me stronger. It is also a good stress reliever and a way to meet new friends.
How I Stay Motivated:
BB Accomplishments:
I have been relatively injury-free - the only injury I've ever had from working out was tendonitis in my right arm after an intense weekend of push-ups.
My abs show even though I'm at 30% bodyfat. I'm also a lot more proportionate and less of a pear shape than I used to be.

I have no trouble putting on muscle, but losing fat has always been a problem. I have lost 38 pounds since last summer, but then stalled for a good month and a half, losing and gaining the same 2-5 pounds repeatedly due to vacation-induced binges and taking time off from working out. I was stable at about 190, and then I started boxing two times a week. It has really helped me restart my weightloss, and I've dropped 5 lbs in a little over 2 weeks. Since last summer, I've gone down from size 20 to size 14, and would like to get to 170 lbs and size 10 by November. In November, I will be attending Jen Hendershott's Phat Camp in Hawaii, so I wanted to fit into my bikini and also just lose some weight so there isn't as much stress on my joints. My LBM is hovering around 130 lbs, so my long-term goal is to get to 155-160, which would probably be a size 6-8 on me. I enjoy food, so I set realistic goals that will not require me to spend 20 hours a week in the gym. I just want long-term weightloss.
I am also working on improving my endurance and speed for boxing. I also set push-up goals - right now I can do 3 sets of 20 push-ups on my knees (20 diamond, 20 regular, 20 elbows-by-sides). I am hoping to turn this into 3 sets of on-your-feet push-ups over the course of the next month.
I couldn't sleep the other night and totalled up all the schoolwork that I have to do in the next month, and now I'm depressed. I mean, I knew I'd be busy, but actually adding up all of the stuff I have to do left me feeling dismal. Over the course of 30 days, I have to write 5 exams, 2 big...
Strong ignorance there, buttercup.
I fail to see how running a very profitable bussiness with several employees makes me a loser compared to a med student.
On a lighter note, nice bulk.
Hi MommaJo I was checking out your pictures, and your progress pictures they are amazing. This picture here is amazing as well,I like the muscle mass that you are showing.Keep up the great work you are doing a great job.
As a former Albertan I wish you much success. Push yourself to be the best that you can be and you will be amazed at the changes and the speed at which they can occur. Continue to challenge yourself and to believe you have the ability to accomplish your goals. I look forward to watching your continued progression in 2008.
