Cant lift any heavy iron, due to left bicep injury. Will be back soon though and will focus on my abs and legs until I can hit upper body again. The abs need sorting anyway, so maybe its a blessing! :)

Goal (Long):
Need to increase overall functional strength initially. Once extra strength is there, I will work on work on plyometrics to add the ability to be able to fire the muscles off quickly - essential to my sport/arts. Also need some muscle endurance.
My goal/plan is to work on the following in this order:
Pure Strength - use compound moves, such as squats, deadlifts, etc. This will add the extra power that I need. I will only lift 3 days a week as I will also be training in the dojo on off days. This will keep my speed and agility to prevent the heavy lifting from slowing me down and to further my specific skill development.
Once the extra strength is there, I will work on explosive lifts and exercises, to get as many fast twich muscles firing as possible. My arts are very dynamic and expolsive in their movements, so this will help avoid my body holding me back in my training.
The next phase is to work on more all round conditioning - lifting - band work - lots more circuits and supersets, trying not to neglect the muscles I will be using in my arts. Building some muscle endurance and focusing on GPP and some more SSP.
During these differnt phases of training, I will be working in tandem on mobility and flexibility.
Once I am relatively happy with my progress, I will now vary my training a lot more, to keep my body from adapting, but also to avoid over training - tapering near competitions and so on to keep my self fresh. I will sometimes use kettlebell training in my routines, as I find this challenges me in an ideal way where I can get a feel for my body control and centre of gravity. Also, they help with things such as swings, where I learn the ideal timing of my hips to generate/maintain power.
My physique will undoubtably improve dramatically - with a reduction in body fat, improved muscle size and definition. This is a by product of what I am trying to acheive (which I'm more than happy about!) - my total focus is in giving me better quality tools to become a greater martial artist.
JD is one of the most influencial people for me on the whole site - he made me realise I could get something a little different on here and that others were interested in developing functional strength and making it fun to push themsleves and others and learn about themselves. I respect him as a martial artist, but also for the fact that he still looks to inspire others and bother about them, despite what sh*t is going on in his life at the time!
Had a bad set back, but instead of mopping about in self pity, dragged himself straight back up again! Every one loves a comeback kid! Great blogs too!
yep was funny,i thought man you would have to have a great heart and cardio to fight baroni, exhausting stuff.Must be all those beef carcasses in the meat factorys in new york beating them up all day long.yeah amirs mullet has real power take that away and no strength.Must be a eye catcher like you have said.Di you see the fight? no i saw a weird hair do,thats it!Yeah take down goldberg and rogan itsssssssssssss timeeeeeeee!
