I started working out about 6 years ago because I moved to a new area where I didnt know anyone and needed something to occupy myself...and I fell in love with it. About 2 years later a friend suggested that I compete in an upcoming show...I was hesitant, but eventually agreed. I took 1st place in my class, and fell in love with the sport of natural body building!
Why I Love It:
I love building on something...making advances, starting from not very much working and working at it until I can finally look back and see all of the ground that I covered and say to myself...look at that!! look at what you have accomplished and built. That is and amazing feeling.
The actually sport of bodybuilding is like no other...I love the fact that you stand alone...there is nobody else there to take credit for what you have done, nobody else there to take the blame for what you haven't its just you, what you have achieved, you achieved on your own...it is yours!
How I Stay Motivated:
By setting small goals and achieving them...then setting new ones...baby steps as they say.
Sometimes I need to look at pictures of myself from the competition season when I am trying to bulk up...putting on weight is hard...not just physically, but mentally as well...its about working for the future sometimes. But at the same time, you have to keep your mind in the present while you look to the future.

Tough to be patient sometimes, but gotta be smart too :) Hope your off-season training goes well! Injuries are frustrating but listen to your body! :) I've been there too...again, the patience game! LOL Have a wonderful holiday weekend, JC!
THANKS, I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHERE TO START WITH EATING CLEAN, I MIGHT GET THAT CLEAN EATING BOOK FOR MEN, AND HOPEFULLY, THAT WILL GIVE ME A FOUNDATION
Thank you so much for the nice compliment! You look incredible! Hope you win your next show!! Awesome conditioning. My next show is totally TBA. I'm working hard towards it, but not going to start dieting down until I feel my physique is where it needs to be. I need to keep pushing this off-season :) Patience is sometimes the hardest part of this sport!
I saw leg routines and have now tried the higher reps and giant sets for about a month. I am shocked at how quickly I am progressing, how hungry I am (I am eating), how much more sleep I need (I am sleeping), and how excited I am. My legs have never responded much to the traditional only lift heavy approach. I used to run long distances successfully, and now wonder if the slow twitch muscle theory has anything to do with the high rep approach. Thanks!
Had to rearrange my contest plans for the season due to a back injury when I was 15 weeks out from the mid-america. I bounced back quickly, but will not be competing at that show
